They have been on that island supposedly 6 days, yet not too many of them seem to have changed their clothes or washed. (We saw Kate and Sun washing) So they must be smelling pretty funky by now. And we know they have clothes to wear. Also why haven't Michael, Locke, Boone, Hurley grown any facial hair in six days?

Well, I doubt you'll see the women growing hair on their legs or armpits either, despite the fact that using the few razors they have for something so trivial would be out of the question if they realize they're going to be on the island for awhile.

Perhaps this is one of the "strange" things on the island.

Perhaps they will not grow facial hair, perhaps Hurley will not lose weight, perhaps Claire will not have the baby -- and perhaps this will key the survivors into realizing "things are not as they seem."

For a show this carefully written I do not think this inconsistency will be overlooked and perhaps will even used as a plot device.

I thought Shannon was trying to get some shaving cream from Sawyer. Was it something else?

It was bug spray.

With aloe?

I don't know about the aloe - but she asked if it would repel sand fleas. Most skin things have aloe in them though.

I think it said "Insect" or something on it.

I think Michael did have facial hair last night. It was difficult to tell. And Dom has seemed excited in some articles and interviews about growing this beard longer. Someone said you'll see people try to cut their hair and stuff. It might be a little amusing. Did you notice last night that in Jack's flashback he has the same stubble factor as he does on the island when he's at the ticket counter. If it were true to date, then he would have been clean shaven at the ticket counter, because he was when they first arrived on the island. But I don't think they could do that with the filming process, so we'll probably see that a lot in the flashbacks.

Did anyone else think it was really cool that he was only willing to *sell* it to her? What's more, she refused! That means that they both believe that they will be rescued at some point, and return to a world where money is useful again.

Wasn't it sun screen? So she would not burn her beautiful body?

Definitely insect repellant.

I've seen Shannon wearing lots of different clothing.

I'm sure they have found some hygeine products in the baggage and are using it. I don't think these topics have become focal issues yet, so they probably won't be shown on screen too much until the character development is more complete (the flashbacks and such).

No one's talked about going to the bathroom either, but I'm sure they all have at least once so far.

no, I'm pretty sure it was bug-repellent... I'm surprised you didn't take notice of her scratching at those fabulous legs!

They probably went while the airplane was going down. ;)

The really funny thing is, in a shirtless promo pic of Sawyer for an upcoming episode, the guy has facial hair, but absolutely no chest hair! Maybe he waxed before getting on the plane ... :lol

That isn't impossible. I can grow some measure of facial hair and have virtually no chest hair. I blame it on my Cherokee ancestors. Perhaps the actor has some Native American blood in him?

It's totally possible for a man to have facial hair, while not having any on his chest. My DH can grow a beard, but he is almost hairless on his chest. I can practically count the hairs he has there. No Native American blood in his background either....he has German/English ancestory. Some men are just hairier, or less hairy than others.

aye i'm a scottish/chinese cross :) and pretty much match that description. No chest hair but still more facial hair than i really want to deal with.
