somebody saw an SUV

Several people in another forum claimed to have seen an SUV throughout the White Rabbit episode. No, not SUV tracks along the beach we're talking about a real silver SUV in several jungle scenes (particulary where Jack sees his father and when Jack finds more plane wreckage near the end)

Can anyone confirm this? Anyone got any interesting captures from that episode?

People tend to see what they want to see. I heard some people who totally swear they saw a small spaceship strike and cause the engine to blow up on the beach. :eek All anyone I know saw in the White Rabbit episode was plane wreckage, and I've looked at it several times myself and that's all I've seen. Would be interesting to see screen caps of what they claim is an SUV.

I didn't see an SUV, but I saw something else that I assume was just an editing error. When Hurley and Charlie are in the tent storing the water and talking to Jack about what to do, the same two people pass behind Jack twice in less than 3 seconds. Behind Jack is the beach, and you see the same two people go by, in the same direction, as Jack says two different lines.

I noticed that, but thought it was a piece of wreckage that hadn't finished falling. Then the explosion blew it back away from the beach.

Ouch!

Couldn't it be someone who saw something s/he identified as an SUV, and that selfsame someone doesn't have the episode taped or downloaded, thus being unable of confirming or negating it? And maybe this same someone can't see the screencaps because s/he is on dial-up?

For the record, I don't claim to have seen a lot of things others have seen, because I'm one of those poor souls in dial-up hell. I- have to rely on those posters who can examine the episodes repeatedly and look at the screencaps to their hearts content, for my information on much of the minutiae of the show.

Hmm...quite an interesting picture. I had forgotten, but I DO remember something falling and hitting the engine, but didn't think anything of it. How could it be a piece of wreckage? I mean, it COULDN'T have taken that long. Jack was lying
unconscience in the jungle, and it took him a couple of minutes to find the beach. And he was most likely lying there, unconscience, for 10 or 15 minutes at the very least. And everyone else was walking around like they'd been there a while. Wreckage does not floar aimlessly in the air waiting to fall at any random second. :rollin

i posted about this before but i thought i'd point out that the "debris" changes it's trajectory before the turbine explodes. You can see it more clearly if you have a downloaded version of the pilot, the "debris" starts it's upward arc after hitting the turbine but definately before the explosion. ie, it hit the turbine, then flew away and the explosion (probably as a result of the hit) immediately follows.

Jeez, I didn't believe that was in EP1, but after just watching that scene again, it IS there and does look strange.

Even stranger is just after the explosion, as Jack is covering the pregnant girl, whatever the black thing is flys past TWICE. I kid you not, and the camera actually pans up a bit to follow it !!

I'll be disappointed if Aliens/spaceships are involved.

If you look at the scene before that, when Jack is pulling the guy out from under the turbine you see all sorts of black flappy crap flying around in the air. I don't think it's any alien activity. It's just debris.

I can't believe the debris came up again. The reason it changes direction before the explosion is because the jet engine is *running*. It's producing backwash.

Watch the pilot again. You'll see the debris being shot all over the place by the jet engine.

hmm. yeah, I just watched it again and it is debris for sure. There is similar debris flying everywhere before and after the engine explodes. I wish I could say it is a UFO but it's most definitely debris. :D

I just watched the parts mentioned again (Jack sees his father/finds the wreckage) and I didn't see any SUV. I could get screencaps if someone who saw it could tell me exactly what scene and where to look. Otherwise I'll assume someone was seeing things.
