but basically like all their quotes tells the viewer not much...nothing we did not already know
it was good to see them being honest about the feeding of misinformation to the public

Hi, flub!
Hope this is new...
It's not. Rizzle started a thread (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28495) on this topic in the Spoilers (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=13) forum that has already accumulated 43 replies as I write this. If I understand the guidelines correctly, that's the right place to check for a discussion of something like this...
Warm regards,

Sorry to butt in, but there is absolutely nothing spoilerish about this interview. While the comment on disinformation (which is addressed without reference to any particular show information) may be important to people who follow spoilers, it means nothing to those who don't really care about such things. The entire balance of the interview deals only with the mechanics of producing a show such as LOST, and touches on no plot or character development.
It may be that this thread has a home elsewhere on this site, but I can't see Spoilers being that home.

I agree. Anyone who considers interviews with the cast or crew spoiler information will not enter into this discussion as the title clearly indicates the content without revealing specifics.
eta: if it needs to be merged anywhere - I would suggest the Xander's above stickied thread of "Lost news and appearances"

Demon says something like: "We all went into this thinking that it was going to be 12 episodes and out, but then after the ratings for the pilot came out and we starting thinking about 6,7, 8 seasons."
It would be interesting to know how many epsiodes had been written prior to the change of thought.

so to summarize just a bit...
we don't need to be concerned with these 2 dudes spoilering anything
cuz, they don't really say anything

Neill, I'm going to trust you and CS that this doesn't belong in Spoilers. Probably a copy should be in the "Lost" News and Appearances thread, but lets leave it here. As CS states, the title states its an interview with TPTB. That's warning enough! :)

Priceless...
I may honestly have to walk away if the show goes on that long.

I may honestly have to walk away if the show goes on that long.I don't know what to believe! I've heard stories, they had a four-season arc prepared when the show was picked up. Now this!
Yeah, I'm with you Locke Push-Ups! I don't like you guys enough to stick around that long. :nanabobo:

and you guys still believe they had a plan?
They had a plan alright.. it went something like this.
Producers: "Ok.. here's the idea.. a plane crashes on a tropical island and a few people survive... but it's no normal island. It's like a serious version of Gilligans island with scarey monsters, evil scientists and the like.."
ABC: "Roll with it"
The end.

Well, that's not how I roll.
I can't imagine 8 years of my life devoted to watching a show. Please say it ain't so.

One of my theories went with a 6 year run, one year for each number. I think it was all very feasible, except that the writers had other ideas.
Stupid writers...

I'm willing to believe that they had an "A" and have a "Z." The strange and circuitous route that gets them there? From the hip.

And like the X-Files, we probably won't see their original version of "Z" and the last couple of seasons will have new actors/characters to replace the ones that didn't want to stick around anymore.

If LOST goes past 5 seasons, you'll probably be proven right SH.
Of course, I won't be watching by then to know, but you'll still be right. ;)

Agreed. Its the length of time that it takes to get from A to Z that is the problem. If the network wants 7 years and the creators originally planned for 4 years...well, that's where the trouble starts. Along the way, we lose writers, actors (and thus their characters) and, naturally, viewers. Tons of shows have traveled this route: begin with a bang and end with a whimper. As with so many other things, the trick is to get out while you are still perceived as a winner. Tough to do in network TV.

Oh and regarding them having an A and a Z.....
I agree with those that have said they may have had an A and a Z, but the path taken to get there now means Z has been modified. When you write a story that can be anywhere from 10 to 2000 pages depending on how it goes.. you gotta have a great deal of flexibility regarding the details surrounding "Z".
Even if they had one and stick with it... it really means nothing. The ending could have been "and they all live happily ever after", but who cares? What happens with letter B through Y is what's important.
I'm willing to believe that they had an "A" and have a "Z." The strange and circuitous route that gets them there? From the hip.
See I think they have a very vague Z. I mean they couldn't even handle 1 season without the Z messing up the A. Can anyone really watch Desmond in like the second episode of the season and Desmond in the finale and say that makes any sense?
Why would he question if the button did anything when he saw that the button did stuff? Why would he take the vaccine when he saw that Kelvin was just wearing the suit as a ruse? Why would he leave the book that he kept with him this whole time in the hatch when he seemed to remember a bunny and more vaccine?
I think they had a vague idea of what the finale would be, but they sure didn't work to hard to synch anything up.
