A big hello to all my fellow Kiwis on these boards.
We may be 9 episodes behind but boy what an impact the show has had.
Personally I'm big on the theories & speculation side of things - with a special interest in the concept of Hawaiki (http://p073.ezboard.com/flosttheunofficalforumfortheabcseriesfrm29.showMes sage?topicID=1324.topic)
How about yourself?

kiora! Kiwipat. You know me on this board already so no need for introductions. I like your Hawaiki idea as you can probably already tell. For us down under I think LOST resonates strongly because its set in a part of the world (supposedly) that we are connected to. So for us its perhaps not so lost as it would seem, but its island spiritualism has a familiarity we can relate too.
I know we're episodes down but I must admit I was so in to it that I cheated and downloaded the rest of the net. Though I work Wednesday nights so I couldn't get to watch it anyway.
Kiwipat, where are you based? I'm in Auckland myself.

Hi guys!
I live in Auckland, and am a big fan of Lost obviously!
I too couldn't wait for every Wednesday, and downloaded eps off the Net. It's great to watch them all back to back.
I did the same with 2 seasons of 24, and ended up stuck in front of the tv for about 3 days.:o
Nice to meet you. :)

Whats your take on the show Kaycee31? I love the philosophy and mysteries and clues (supposedly) they present every episode. Not to mention the story/characters/acting/cinematography and everything else of coarse.

Hi All
Yep I’m based down here in Wellington. Sunny Easter Weekend Wellington :D
I agree with your comments Jays re the shows' appeal to us - what with the geographical closeness and the ties we have to the region.
As for downloading episodes, my computer’s so crappy I’m lucky I can download this site, let alone any shows :lol

Another Kiwi fan here , Auckland based.
Also on dial up so no hope of downloading the episodes :lol
Love the peeling away of layers as the back stories of each character are revealed.
Great writing and the mystery is just enough to hook you in and keep you hooked.
Survivor meets Jursassic Park meets the Twilight Zone.

Jays, the thing that attracted me to the show were the characters and the premise. I like that we didn't know anything about them and that I had already drawn so many conclusions (and some were so so wrong lol) before we were shown that particular characters background episode.
So, the whole drama of the show drew me in really. And the fact that I really have absolutely no idea where the story will go next. :D
Kiwipat, Wellington's my hometown. I miss it except when you guys are having earthquakes!
MissWendyWings, hi, nice to 'meet' you. :)

I won't be hanging out here, since I'm in Oz. Just wanted to point out, you guys are doing much better on the "keeping up with the US" front than we are....
our programmers have only aired six or seven episodes so far, then they put a 3 week break in over Easter....basically because they don't measure the ratings in the holidays....
this country (Australia)'s TV is so messed up....:rollin
anyway, glad you like the show. :)

Heya!
Aucklander here, who is obsessed with Lost already. :lol
I watch and tape it on Weds, and then my hubby and I and a friend watch it again on Thursday nights (because they both work late on the night it airs). Now another friend downloaded some future eps onto DVD, and we are going to watch them on Fridays. So all in all, I'm getting a good fix.
I loved it from the pilot, and knew it was good because a lot of my US online friends were raving about it. I am enjoying the mix of character drama, action and mystery. ;)

Hey Zoriah. Welcome. I think we're coming up to the Clair/Charlie episode tonight 30/3/05. This is a real turning point for the castaways as they realise.... Anyway, perhaps we can talk about this episode for this week?

Hey fellow kiwis,
I am a 'lost' buff and can't get enough of it - therefore I download the episodes and am up to date with the USA - but... I was wondering where everyone else gets there latest episodes from?
I use BearShare and recently I had real trouble getting the last episode, it took a couple of days (on jetstream of course). Does anyone use anything better or have a supplier?? If so I would more than happily pay for a CD copy!
That will be for the upcoming final 3 episodes...
Thanks people!

Welcome stingray. Use the program bittorrent if your not already. You may want to give a donation to the programer but it is not nessacary.
We aren't allowed to discuss any websites regarding any kind of downloading of LOST episodes for legal reasons.
From the administrators.
Glad the post was useful stingray. It was entirely imaginative and only coincidently concured with actual events. None the less good luck.

Just a note to any Kiwis...
LOST is rescreening on Channel 2, and it seems to be on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10.30pm!
Hopefully showing it twice a week will mean they're speeding them up to try and lead up to the next series ;)
I believe it is upto ep. 5.
Cheers,

Welcome to the board, happywhale productions! Yea, I wonder how it will take. I DL them, so its anoying knowing more and not be able to talk about it, without spoiling it. I work at nights so I'll miss most of the reruns. The early episodes are great! Anyway, enjoy.

I wonder when TV2 will start showing season 2. Damn, I think it's gonna be a while. I heard rumours that it could be until late February. I bet season 2 in the states will be freakin finished by then already.
Ah well, thankfully there's the internet. Coz I don't think I can wait that long.

Being the giant nerd that I am, I actually emailed TVNZ awhile back. I can't remember what exactly was said, but the lady basically said it would be showing in the new year. That seems to fit in quite snugly with the timeframe they are showing them on......
I wish I could download the episodes, unfortunately I cannot get broadband in my area! Am getting it my next flat in town though, early next year. I tend to go online and get the "gist" of whatever episode has just screened, though. So I have a general idea of whats going on!

Hi, if anyone is having problems with downloading EPs for the first or second series i have each EP, up to date with the US. I can chuck them on CD or DVD and post them to people in NZ. I usual get the latest one of the second series the evening or following morning or it being aired in america.
if you wanted all of them i'd just ask you to cover the cost of CD/DVD's probably like $15/$20 or something.
if anyone is keen let me know :)

Well I could wait any longer!!! Ive watched all of the Season episodes to date...I couldnt wait till they came on NZ tv!!!! If anyone is interested you can watch them for free on www.craftytv.com (http://www.craftytv.com) although this can be a bit skippy...but there is a trick to it!
Ive also been watching them free on http://www.watchLOST.com
they just upload straight to your Windows Media Player and each Ep is in 6 parts which is good so you dont have to wait for ages for the, to buffer etc!!
So is anyone else up to Ep 7 or 8? You guys enjoying it?!

Yer I've got 8. Was much better than 7. Now they've tied up a few loose ends/finished with the 2 storylines I hope they can move on with the story.
You can just download the episodes using a bittorrent client (I reccomend Azureus) and one of the many tracker/dump sites around to find a torrent for the episodes. That way you get to keep them, and much better quality than streaming ones too. PM me if you need any help.

All I can say is thank God for BitTorrent and Broadband connections, because TVNZ as usual is very slow at getting new series to air.
And I see that finally we have gotten the DVDs in the country. Yay! Even though I downloaded the DVD-Rips off of the net ages ago, I think I will still shell out 90 or so dollars to buy the real deal.
Stryker
12-10-05, 09:01 AM
Just ask yourself first though whether you're gonna pay 90 bucks for the entire dvd set or just for the special features. I've seen the eps so many times over again, I don't think I'll be watching them all again on DVD. So i'm still in two mind whether to buy the set now or just wait till it's bout 20-30 bucks cheaper. Which should be the case as soon as s2 start I'd think.
RidersOnTheStorm
12-10-05, 09:15 AM
I wouldnt bother paying the 90$ for just the extras. I downloaded the extras a while ago but they definintely aint worth the price of the DVDs.
I will probably just buy them to add to my DVD collection. I have a DVD collection of classic great movies. Lost will have the honor of being the first TV series to be inducted into my DVD collection.
Hmm, might get the DVDs of 24 some day too...

Yeah, pretty cool. I looked to see if I could get a set of DVDs for the UK, seeing as we are still only midway through S2, but the US release date for the box set is similar to the UK date. Perhaps they tied up to make sure people still watched on UK TV first.

Hey there, all you fellow NZers. Now season 2 is over here, I'm feeling a void in my Wednesdays (already) that I'm going to try to fill by posting here. I've actually lurked these forums like crazy since a while after season 1 ended, but only now that S2 is over (and I can explore without fear of spoilers) have I decided to register.
I don't really know may people here that are actually watching on TV...
Most people i know followed along with the states via downloads.
I watched on TV exclusively, as painful as it was. The wait for season 3 may be more than I can handle (any of you guys care to estimate when it'd hit our country, based on previous premiere air dates?), so when it starts in America, I might start to watch via download, instead. I spoiled a fair bit of season 2 for myself by not being able to resist taking sneak peeks into various posts (in the likes of the T&S forum) here, so I'd avoid that again if I did download.
I guess the upside of watching on TV here is that even though we start viewing the season(s) later, we get a new episode each week guaranteed, without the huge gaps in between that US fans need to endure.
Without getting too much into anything that should be discussed elsewhere, I gotta say that I really hope Desmond survives into S3 (personally I think Locke & Eko are sure to live). I actually didn't think whilst watching that Locke, Eko and Desmond were in any danger of dying once Des turned had the key, but after reading other people's post-finale thoughts, I'm not quite sure. Maybe the release of the mag-energy could have done at least one of 'em in (it was painful even for those who were far away from the hatch, after all).
I really like Desmond, and want him to stay (Eko and Locke are cool too, of course. S1 Locke = *worship*, but S2 Locke disappointed me).
Well, we'll see :D
Sigh, Wednesday is back to simply being the middle of the week. Thank heavens for this place!

Season 2 aired here in NZ at the end of February didn't it? I didn't watch it on tv from the beginning, as i'd kept up to date with the US airdates.
Season 3 has a October 4th airdate in the states, so i'd probably say we'll be looking at the same sort of period for 2007 as we had this year.
The way the US hiatus is this coming season, with the 7 episode block, then 13 week break, then 17 episodes to run the rest of the season...i'd probably say that by the time the US airs the second block of dates, we might be caught up. That would be awesome.
SteveT4W
08-25-06, 05:05 AM
This hiatus is a killer!!!
Just aching for season three to pick up in the States.
Its quite amazing how slow the board gets throughout this time...i'm here every single day! Makes my work day run a little faster. There are always the 'regulars' floating about...but it seems when the show switches off, majority of peoples interests go along with it.
Sitting in Auckland, New Zealand.
Counting down the days.
Deus Ex Machina
08-25-06, 04:09 PM
It certainly is painful. I come here every day too, to have a look around for a few minutes and check up on the "Time til S3:E1" counter... *sigh*. Speaking of which, I hope when that counter reaches zero and the new season is upon us, that the counter changes to red heiroglyphics that translate to "OMFG GET WATCHING!!" :p
I'm definitely going to watch via download. When I was watching S2 on TV here in NZ, and reading each episode-specific thread after viewing the respective episode, there was still tons of stuff I wanted to comment on - stuff I thought was worth contributing (even after 70-80 pages, which was usually the point I stopped reading, since it got to be even more repetitive by then).
But I held off, because I knew that the posts I was reading were by people that had likely seen like six episodes ahead, and if I spat out any of my speculations on various matters related to the episode I was on.. it'd likely be irrelevant. And as the season went on, I found out that indeed the content of later episodes did indeed render voicing my ideas redundant.
You can come here a bit whilst at work, SteveT4W? That's cool. I can't.. and work is the main reason I haven't been coming here as often as I'd like as of late, too (the workflow has been very heavy recently, resulting in me having to work overtime and sometimes weekends). I guess then it kinda works out well that during the hiatus there's not as much that I want to comment on, then (once we start the new season I'm sure I'll be posting like mad, along with everyone else :D).
Say Steve, what are you watching in the meantime? I know nothing can compensate for Lost's absence, but I'm enjoying my tube time with The Amazing Race, Scrubs and Rove (all of which I've followed for centuries).
I haven't got into Prison Break. Kinda made a conscious decision to steer clear so I don't get addicted and end up recording more shows than I can actually watch after work, heheh.

To be honest, i actually don't watch much television at all. My addiction to Lost is matched by my flatmates addiction to Scrubs, so we have a constant stream of those two shows running off of our computers...which keeps me satisfied. :) I play in a band as well as work fulltime days, so as soon as im done here at work, it's either off to practice or a show. Another reason why Lost is so dear to me, even though i had all of the episodes prior to them airing in NZ, i'd still take time away from overything on Wednesday nights, to sit down and watch it with the rest of the country.
I'm on the boards the moment an episode airs in the states, i love reading through the episode discussion threads..seeing the utter shock and surprise that the posters are genuinely having at that moment.
Really looking forward to the Season 2 Box Set though, can't wait to sift through every detail of it.

I liked the episode. Wasn't wowed, but it was very good. So... will they all flash forwards from now on? I'm not sure whether I'm down with that or not. It feels odd - it's probably just gonna take some getting used to.
Nice to see that Locke's character is set to continue his downward spiral though :\ First episode of the season and already we find out that going with Locke is not the right thing to do. Sigh. Well, maybe Jack's group just gets into trouble and Hurley regrets not being there to help or something... I guess we'll see.
Man, I can't wait to see what happens next week, with the boat's crew coming onto the island. I saw Solaris (remake) not too long ago, so the oddness of Jeremy Davies' character there has stayed with him and so I'm getting a weird feeling from this parachutist Daniel guy already :D
