Who EXACTLY got killed?

Chistain Bowman (Steve) and Dustin Watchman (Scott) play the pair of Scott/Steve. Hurley says that Scott got killed, but the two actors have confirmed that it was actually Steve.

Sawyer: "So Steve drew the short straw,huh?
Hurley: "Dude, that was Scott."




So, how will the writers resolve this?

I'm about as confused as the next person about this but if you go to www.abc.com and go under lost and check out the diary it says who was killed..but I also think Hurley knew who he was talking about because he came up with the list/knowing-who's-who idea.
