This is the discussion thread for the next LOST episode, "The LOST Survivor Guide"

Please post all your episode comments, mini-reviews, as well as simple questions ("What did so-and-so say?" "What did so-and-so see?" "What song played at this scene?") regarding the episode.

Any new theories or big issues raised by the episode may be started in a new thread.

Enjoy the episode!

This clip episode will be airing at 9PM EST in the original LOST timeslot. S3E7 will air right after this recap show.

Unlocking.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Episode Description:

Hosts Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, the executive producers of LOST, will provide an insightful glimpse into the lives of some of the survivors of the doomed Oceanic Airlines flight 815.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are just a few things that I'd like to mention in order to hopefully make everyones viewing of the Episode Discussion Threads a little more enjoyable:

* First off, if you haven't already, please take a moment and view the Welcome Forum (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2) as it is quite easy to get lost here. Many questions can be answered by simply taking a few moments and reading the Welcome Forum.

* Want to revisit a topic that's already been discussed (i.e. the P-word) with a new angle? Then please view the Guys? Where are we? (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=4) forum where any and all topics are open for discussion.

* Have a theory that has possibly been mentioned before but you have a different twist on it? Then take a look at What I think is going on (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=5).

* Both "Guys? Where are we?" and "What I think is going on" are where you can re-hash old ideas, concepts, and theories to your hearts content without worrying about your posts being merged or moved.

* If you have a question about how to add an avatar, a profile picture, a signature picture, or how to edit your location, please visit the LOST-TV Help Desk (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=48). You can most likely find the answer to your question there. If you cannot, then feel free to start a new post there about the problem you're having. The moderators, administrators, and web masters here keep a very close eye on that forum and your question will not go unanswered for long.

* If you have a question how to find past episodes of LOST, please take a look at the Miss an Episode? (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6657) thread.

* If you have a question about what so-and-so may have said in a past episode, please take a moment and look through the transcripts (http://lost-tv.com/transcripts/index.html) of past episodes. Our very own spooky puts a great deal of time into creating these for us and she's rarely, if ever, wrong in her transcription.

* If you have a website related to LOST that you'd like to mention for everyone to check out, please post it in the Advertise your LOST site/RPG here! (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11578) thread.

* If you're looking to see if something has been posted here before related to LOST, please take a moment and perform a Search (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/search.php) of the forums. That link will allow you to search the entire forum in the event that you may not know where something has been mentioned or is currently being discussed. Those of you who have been with us since before we moved to our current location probably know that the Search function at our old home didn't work very well, if at all. However, the Search function here is very thorough so please utilize it.

* If someone uses a word, acronym, or slang that you're unfamiliar with, please check the LOST-TV Dictionary (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10085&highlight=dictionary) before asking what something like TPTB means.

* If you're having a problem unrelated to LOST and need help from the moderators and/or administrators, feel free to PM any of us. We'll be glad to help you out. You can find a list of the mods/admins here (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showgroups.php) as well as at the bottom of the thread listings for each individual forum.

I simply added these links in order to keep non-episode related material out of the Episode Discussion threads. Material that is non-episode related clutters the Episode Discussion thread and makes it difficult to navigate for many.

Thank you all for your time.

Backstories like you and I? Who are they kidding? How many of us have murdered people? Backstories like you and I? Dumbasses are trying to rewrite the aspects of the show that made it great.

These people are nothing like you and I, and trying to pretend they are does not bode well for the show.

Without ever seeing Lost I watched the first and second season on DVD and it moved faster than it would if I had been watching it on tv week to week.

I think that's one reason I liked it so much.

Watching this third season has been agonizing because it moves so slow.

I'm watching-- it's good to see LOST again, but it's also making me more impatient!

It seems more like an "introduction to Lost", rather than a "ex fan" grab.

If their past no longer matters like the creators say, then why did Eko die?

I don't like it too much either. If I had never seen the show and saw this, I would say, wow, how cheesy.

I will wait for the new episode, though.

Interesting that they don't even SHOW any of the people that have died...except Ecko.

Taking their comments at face value, despite the overwhelming attempts at re-writing history, because Eko was wedded to his past. I think this summary is trying to show that the lostaways need to evolve. Eko went backward.

Most of the characters on the show are wedded to their past i.e. kate always running, hurley intimidated by the numbers, jack's relationship with his father. They have not evolved and are still guided by their past. As Eko was, and he was killed.

Hey, y'all!

One reason I usually watch Lost "special episodes" is that, when excerpted, some scenes take on a slightly different emphasis.

A semi-subtlety that I noticed watching this recaps reel was part of Ben's instructions to Ethan and Goodwin immediately after the crash (~3:50 in "A Tale of Two Cities"):

"...Listen. learn, and don't get involved." [Emphasis added.]

That didn't work out too well, did it? Was that part of what Ben said sincere? Why was it important?

This has probably been discussed before — but I remember focusing more on "I want lists in 3 days," how far/fast Goodwin and Ethan had to run (or whatever), etc. Hearing this snippet tonight ~out of context left me wondering about the Others' (OK, that group of Others') philosophy about "getting involved" with newcomers — and what it might mean...

I like it when they run these special ep. I talk about the show all the time and many of my friends/co-workers don't watch LOST because it's too far along and they don't know the characters. They don't know the backstories, etc. This show is specifically designed to get new viewers. The narrator even says so (in so many words) I think it's a great idea, and should pay off in the long run. Why not scrap a couple 'a crappy episodes of "according to jim" if it'll get NEW viewers hooked.

Any way I thought it noteworthy they made no mention whatsoever of Michael and walt!!! They spent a whole hour giving us a rough play-by-play of whats been happening. Told us about all the major players, and no Walt/Mike. even when they were talking about how Kate,Jack , Hurly,Sawyer were taken to the others they didn't mention about how Micheal tricked them.

I think we've seen the last of those 2. My guess is .......they're just gone. writers aren't going to mention them again, that's it.

I'm sorry this probably seems like a stupid question but what is this LOST survivor guide? and when is it on in relation to the show?

I didn't see the whole Lost Survivor Guide, but I saw enough to see that they AGAIN played the scene with Sayid and Hurley listening to Glenn Miller on the radio. Sayid says it could be coming from anywhere, and Hurley adds, "or any time. . . just kidding. . ."

They also made sure to include this same clip prominently in the recap ep at the beginning of S3. The key (or one of the keys) is definitely time travel, time dislocation, or some such concept. There could be no other reason to feature this so prominently, not once, but twice, in recaps.

I'm sorry this probably seems like a stupid question but what is this LOST survivor guide? and when is it on in relation to the show?It was on before the last episode (Feb 7th). It was an hour long recap/clip show, with some commentary from executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof. It was basically just to refresh everyone's memories about important moments in the first 2+ seasons up till now.

There was no new information given... except for one thing.

They confirmed that Sun slept with Jae by saying that she herself doesn't know whether or not her baby is Jin's. The show had left it open to interpretation when it aired, but they clarified it during the clip show.

I am echoing the observation that Walt/Michael/Vincent were all left out of the Survivor guide! I couldn't believe the only place we saw Walt was on the milk carton! No Shannon or Boone, either, that I can remember, although the survivor guide lulled me to sleep on several occasions. No AnaLuciaMamasita or Libby, either. Some pretty big players were left out of the guide. Hmmm... I was so hoping that Walt and Michael would return at some point during the future. Well, here's to the future of Lost whatever it might be. I hope it is "gooder" than ever before.

They wanted to only provide information that would be useful going forward and watching future episodes, not rehashing things of the past that don't "matter" any more, regardless of how significant they were at the time.

We're definitely going to find out what happened to Walt and Michael, and I'm sure Vincent will show up again, too.
