Where are the extras?

I notice an even more distinct lack of any extras. It seems like they are wanting to cut down on them in the second half. Too expensive? They are useless anyway?
Maybe I was distracted by the Boone/Shannon story, but I don't remember any extras clearly visible in line of sight.

i agree JacksGirl, and until they prove themselves capable of making good decisions (read: finding food versus moving things) they do not deserve to be anything BUT extras! :)

This might be a spoiler but I heard there was the gigantic monster in the jungle. I also heard somewhere there is a crazy dude who kidnapped someone and strung up another by his neck. Also, and this just sounds silly, but somewhere on here someone posted that there were polar bears on the island.

Oh, oh, one other thing I heard. There is a crazy french lady out there with a gun and love for animated fish movies.

That's exactly the point. If they were an interesting enough character to fish, hunt, lead, explore scientifically, attract attention despite being the outcast, etc then they would be regular characters and not extras.

Seriously. It seemed to me like they started to get some of the other survivors - let's not always call them "extras" - to communicate with our cast. I had the feeling that some of them might play a role later on. But now they seem to vanish once again and their role is reduced to carrying junk from A to B or sitting around a campfire.
A big twist coming? The extras are doing something in secret, I bet.
