They all lost a loved one!

Think about it....even the Oriental lady has lost her husband in a weird sorta way.

I am thinking they all caused the death of someone either by accident or on purpose. Lock maybe killed his wife Helen in a car wreck and lost the use of his legs, The doc maybe lost a patient on the table and lost his job. Our felen killed someone and lost her freedom etc. The korean man killed his father in law-he had his watch and lost the love of his life. They are now starting fresh in a way to atone for their past.

From what I remember about Locke, Helen was the phone-sex person he was talking to in the Tabula Rasa episode, not his wife. He asked her if she would go walkabout with him. He acted like they had a real regular relationship, not just a phone thing.

I definitely think they've all LOST something, it's just a question of what they've lost. Jack did lose a loved one but other like Kate lost something less tangible, freedom. They all have a chance now to get back whatever it is they've lost.

Jack also, in a way, caused the death of his father, because it sounds like he took off and drank himself to death because of something Jack did. And we have no idea what happened to Walt's mother. It's possible that he "caused" her death somehow.

And, this isn't quite the same, but Charlie caused his band to "die" from his drug addiction, I think.

Maybe Claire, as the giver of life, while everyone else is a taker, is gonna end up being really important somehow.

WhereR I know it was the phone sex operator. Helen seemed like a strange name in the sex business, not that I would know anything about that. i speculated that he projected that name on her as a wife. But this theme keeps reoccuring and it don't seem like a coinkydink. Charlie had to give up his drugs to get back the guitar he lost. His drug use could have killed Drive Shaft- Locke said he was sorry what happened to the band.

there's a quote from daniel day kim saying that all the characters on the show have lost something important to them. He rattled off a list of things lost but sorry i can't remember where the quote is from...
