I'm a fan already. Michelle Rodriguez (not Rosario Dawson!) has this weird appeal to her that I can't quite put my finger on. I like the way she and Jack were flirting - it seemed very natural, and mutual.

Any thoughts on this character?

Only as a parallel for Anamaria, the pirate girl who slapped Jack Sparrow. ("No. That one I deserved")

Black Pearl...Black Rock... You tell me.

Any thoughts on this character?I know what you mean DohBoy. I personally love her voice. It's raspy and sexy. I've also got a thing for Latin women.

I don't think I've missed seeing anything she's appeared in. From Girlfight to S.W.A.T.

azteclady says:Hodgepodge, did you know I'm Mexican?????No, but I should've guessed from your avatar. Maybe the most beautiful woman to ever grace the planet.

azteclady would be a giveaway.

Michelle Rodriguez is a spare of an actress and I don't care for her, she's not that good looking either. Blue Crush, Resident Evil, Girl Fight, SWAT all sucked.

TheHammerOfGod, lovely way to contribute to the discussion!

As for my handle, you would be surprised as to how many people think I'm male.

Heh, azteclady - I guess you were either Mexican or from SDSU, home of the mighty Aztecs.

Hodgepodge - perhaps Dr. Jack shares the same appreciation for Latin women as you. ;)

I agree on both counts. Michelle Rodriquez is hot, and Rita Hayworth was the most beautiful lady to grace the silver screen.

Sorry mate, is one not allowed to have a dissenting opinion? Most would agree with me about her actining ability, and all her movies flopped, check out Rotten Tomatoes, im fairly sure every movie she's been in was below 50% positive.

TheHammerOfGod, since when are dissenting opinions not allowed here?

Debate is a good thing, something most people here enjoy, as long as everyone involved remains civil, and as long as what is debated is ideas and not personal traits of the people involved.

In general though I find that your phrasing tends to be a little on the... hmmm.... terminant? arrogant? curt? harsh? side - in my not so humble opinion. And I believe this opinion is shared by a few others

I don't recall ever seeing a movie with Michelle Rodriguez in it, but I'd like to. She seems to be pretty popular. What would you recommend?

I'm Mexican too! *does jump for happiness*

Ok, so, MR aside who is Ana-Lucia? She HAS to be still knocking about - otherwise why the screen time? No other purpose to her being there except as an introduction to the cast. She's blunt, forward, confident - but who is she? Remember that phone call - explaining where she was sitting etc? Does anyone think she may have some sort of tie in with either Kate or the Marshall? Grasping a straws, I know, but what if she is Kates ally, enemy, or even worse, another Marshall?
I dont really know why I am on this tangeant!
But I do know that where ever the other survivors (um, if, um, of course, there are some other survivors) are she would be the Jack of them!

Ana as a Kate accomplice.

Hmmm. What if this were true and Ana is actually Kate's friend 'Beth' that she tells Charlie about?

Still like my idea that she is hunting Shepards for causing her sister and unborn niece to die. She's already killed Jack's dad in Australia and see's Jack at the airport and it starting up a 2 for 1 special.

Dr Jack Shepard asks:I don't recall ever seeing a movie with Michelle Rodriguez in it, but I'd like to. She seems to be pretty popular. What would you recommend?Dr Jack Shepard, I rather liked "Girl Fight" myself. And I'd have to agree with TheHammerOfGod, her movies weren't that popular as far as box office receipts. But as I mentioned in my first post, I just find her very sexy. And I hope TheHammerOfGod doesn't mind my dissenting opinion.

Now, how I see her character. I do think she's going to be found alive with a few more people from the planes tail section. But the obvious attraction between her and Jack will cause Kate to plot her demise.

When I said she was popular I was thinking more in terms of a fan base for the actress herself and not necessesarily box office statistics.

I agree with you, Hodgepodge, that we will be seeing more survivors from the tail section and Ana Lucia will be one of them. Since the writers chose to introduce her character with Jack I have reason to believe that she will probably serve as a leader for the tail section. Maybe the emergence of another group with another leader could case a rift in the already fragile relations between the survivors, kind of like in Lord of the Flies.

I agree with Hodge and Dr. Jack. Her appearance is going to upset Kate, and cause much drama as far as two seperate groups of survivors. Or at least that would be very interesting if it happened!
On another note:
Didn't The Fast and The Furious do quite well? She was in that.

I don't think Ana Lucia survived the crash unless she switched seats or managed to get into first class or something... which doesn't really make sense since we haven't once seen her on the island.

Perhaps she is significant because she had something to do with the plane breaking up in the air. Maybe she had a few more tequila 'n tonics, and headed towards the lavatory once the turbulence got bad. Maybe in her drunken stupor she "accidentally" opened the wrong door, causing the cabin to lose all pressure and the plane to break up!

By the way, I think Michelle Rodriguez is very cute.

Ana Lucía told Jack that she was stuck at the very end of the plane. She repeated that twice, and complainted bitterly about it. Then she answered her phone and, as she walks away, she says it yet again.

I sincerely doubt that the creative team would go to the trouble of making sure the audience got this if they didn't have an ulterior motive. What motive? Well, since day one there's been speculation in this community that the tail of the plane land-crashed on the other side of the island and that there is another group of survivors.

For those interested on how that could have come to pass, check out a theory by maxpublic called "the physics of the plane crash" - it should be in the active Theories and Speculations forum.

typos *sigh*

Although I agree with AZ about TPTB, and how they stressed the idea that Ana-Lucia was in seat 42F. Scottq74, do you remember the conversation between Jack and Rose? Where she says her husband was alive? Well, along with Ana-Lucia, I believe Bernard will be among the survivors from the planes tail-section.

%%WORD1%t, do you remember the conversation between Jack and Rose? Where she says her husband was alive? Well, along with Ana-Lucia, I believe Bernard will be among the survivors from the planes tail-section.

Well, place me in the camp that thinks Rose is wrong and that (unless they ended up in the front half of the plane) Ana-Lucia and Bernard are dead as doornails. Personally, I think it is more likely (not realistic, but likely) thatBoone heard himself in some sort of time warp than it is that people from the back end of the plane survived, had a radio, and just happened to be tuned in (at the same frequency no less) as Boone at that very time.

scottq74 - I just can't understand the significance of introducing Ana Lucia in Exodus I unless she reappears in some form or another next season. Was it just to show that Jack isn't married anymore? And that he has a Latin persuasion? And that he likes to drink?

Well, maybe so. Significant characters, gone in the blink of an eye, just like Arzt.

By the way, the Boone transmission could have been the Others just f*ing with him.
