sawyer and kate's escape

when kate and sawyer escaped they were being held at gun piont by 2 guys who had 2 guns
why did sawyer only pick up one gun and not both ?
why didn't kate pick up any gun??
we know kate can shoot a gun so why leave a gun behind when your trying to escape ?:mad:

Yeah, and this is from some good poster in the Not In Portland discussion thread- how come Sawyer got the rifle? One could argue Kate as a better shot or at least someone who'd take the rifle from Sawyer.

That didn't make any sense, Kate of all people there knows how to use a gun and would have wanted it.
It could be simply about how to shoot the escape scenes. The ones they gave us would be a bit more involved if Kate had a gun too, especially at the end when Danny showed up. If that's the case they could have shown Kate being held by a Other wielding only a knife, she would have been in a much danger if he held it to her throat.
