View Full Version : Desmond changes the past
If Desmond realy went to the past, he change it.
When he helps the barman and Jimmy Lennon didn't hit the barman, the past was changed.
So:
Or Ms. Hawking ( the old ladie ) was wrong about not been possible to change the path of a person,
Or Desmond was not really in the past, but in a mind game or alucination.
If Desmond was on the past he is wrong, he CAN save Charlie as he made with the barman...
I dont think she said it couldnt be changed at all, just that the patterns would be followed regardless. She said that the universe has a course-correction mechanism that keeps the broad themes being followed. So if the red-shoes man had been warned, he would be killed later by something else.
The barman was likely hit by something else within a few hours. If what she is saying is true.

Nobody ever said the barman died from the whack on the head..so it's just a minor incident and something that goes with working in a place full of intoxicated people.

That's quite possible since the barman was the intended target and Desmond would not have known what happened after being struck.

I think the big issue is that he can't change the "important" things, i.e. dumping Penelope, ending up on the island, etc...
Of course one could argue that everything is important (butterfly effect for ex), but that's one of the reasons I think this is either an illusion, or a trick of his mind or the island.
