Sorry, Just got to say this. Im Lost lover big time and theres not much in Lost I wont buy into...But did anyone else think the scene annoncing Eko's death was a tad bit crap?!!

Something Like:

CHARLIE: Wheres Eko?
LOCKE : Eko's dead
CHARLIE: How? (nervously looking around)
LOCKE: The Island killed him (Sayid and Locke both eye each other up like they are lovers)
CHARLIE: What do you mean?
LOCKE: You know what I mean...

WTF??????????????? Locke we havnt all seen into the big brown eye of the island?!!!!!

Made me laugh out loud, it was almost spoof like!!!

PMSL...other than that...superb episode!

I must agree... can't we just say, 'something killed him' and be done with it
instead of all these longing looks!!

I agree! However, I do think Locke would have explained it had Desmond not ran off... I think the scene would have been better as

CHARLIE: Wheres Eko?
LOCKE : Eko's dead
CHARLIE: How? (nervously looking around)
LOCKE: The Island killed him (Sayid and Locke both eye each other up like they are lovers)
CHARLIE: What do you mean?
HURLEY: DESMONDDD???? DUDDDEEE [ALL RUN OFF AFTER DESMOND]

That would have been better a bit.

They used the blinking eye code to communicate.

Making it simple, Locke even could have said the Smoke had killed him. Both of them had seen it and both of them know what it is. Makes a little bit more sense rather than the Island.

They could have said "The same thing that killed the pilot" and Charlie would have understood right away without all the crap.

Maybe they were trying to out do the recent 'Stupidest Line On the Show So Far' which is:

"What a great speech"

They have a long way to go before they top that baby, though

Locke seems to have a thing for the island. He refers to it like its a person.

I prefer our terms (Smokey, the monster) to it-who-shall-not-be-named. Already done in another series, guys.

The whole handling of Eko's death has been bizarre. What if someone else (Bernard, Jin) wanted to come to the funeral? Why shouldn't the folk on the beach be concerned about being smashed by our tetchy invisible monster? Or being captured by the polar bears, gored by the wild boars, kidnapped by hungry others, etc? Some worry is desperately needed here.
