For those of you who watched Star Trek episodes, in retrospect i seems like a giveaway in Episode 11 when Boone tells Locke that the people in red shirts always bite the dust in Star Trek episodes:
Boone Red shirt.
Locke Huh?
Boone Ever watch Star Trek?
Locke Nah. Not really.
Boone The crew guys that would go down to the planet with the main guys, the captain and the guy with the pointy ears, they always wore red shirts. And they always got killed.
Locke Yeah?
Boone Yeah.
Locke Sounds like a piss-poor captain.
Plus, when Boone loses faith in Locke when they are trying to break into the "hatch", he's wearing a t-shirt with Chinese (?) characters on it. Any idea what it says? Does it foretell his doom?

MagneticHeading, let me be the first to welcome you to Lost-TV. I hope you enjoy your stay. Make sure to take some time and read the Welcome forum. It will help you get acquainted with the site.
We've gotten conflicting translations of the writing on Boone's shirt. One person said 815, while another 814. I tend to agree with the former, for obvious reasons.
I'm new here, so could someone direct me to the thread where there are conflicting translations of Boone's blue sleeveless shirt, with the chinese characters? I know what the shirt says and actually have what I think is an interesting insight on it. :hat
BTW, why do you think it says 815? What does 815 signify? It's not obvious to me. :o

Sinjz, go ahead and tell what the Chinese characters mean in this thread. I am pretty sure there was another one somewhere, and I'm still looking for it. When I find it, I will post a link for you here. But for now, you may as well post it in here. I can't close threads in here anyway.

In episode 10 (thanks to whoever does the transcripts) the psychic tells Claire that she HAS to take flight 815, and that no other flight would do.
The psychic tells Claire (for months) that nobody else can raise her baby, or something bad will happen to everyone (the whole world, presumably), then he says, take Flight 815 and you'll find a warm loving family in LA to raise your child.
Later, Claire tells Charlie that the psychic probably knew the plane would go down, and told her to get on it to force her to raise the child herself, rather than having her give it up for adoption.
If you "know" what his t-shirt says, please share. I assume they had him wear it for a reason.
P.S., I'm new here too, so have no idea where this discussion took place.

OK, I ran a search in General, in Theories, in Ian's forum, in Emilie's forum (since most discussion of the symbols on Boone's shirt was grouped with the symbol on Claire's necklace), and in both Archives for General and Theories. The only thread I could find was this one:
p073.ezboard.com/flosttheunofficalforumfortheabcseriesfrm43.showMes sage?topicID=28.topic (http://p073.ezboard.com/flosttheunofficalforumfortheabcseriesfrm43.showMes sage?topicID=28.topic)
It's in the Archive for General Discussion and is locked. Therefore, I say you may as well post what you know in here.
Here's something I just posted in another thread:
---
Just another newbie checking in to verify that the last digit on Boone's shirt, with the chinese characters, is a 'four'; at least it's close enough to be a four. I say close enough because from what I remember, the two lines inside that 'box' were pretty straight, they should curve out a little to really be a four. It looks nothing like a five though; so in this case it is NOT 815.
The second character is 'ten'.
HOWEVER, I'm not so sure that first character is an 'eight'. ;) Anyone got a screen capture of it? If the two lines that make up this character are actually touching, it means something TOTALLY different. If they touch I have a completely new translation that takes into account phonetics. :hat :b :evil
---
I can't find a screen capture, so I guess I'll just throw out what I'm thinking. Assuming that first character IS an eight, then the characters are:
8
10
4
I have no idea what that's suppose to mean.
However, if the two lines that make up that first character are actually touching, then that word is 'person/people'. That's what it looked like to me when I saw it flash by on that one hour 'review' special this past Wednesday.
So in this case we would have:
Person/people
10
4
Doesn't make much sense like that, unless you knew that the unlucky number is most asian cultures is not 13, but 14 which is what 10 4 basically translates to. It's unlucky because phonetically it sounds VERY much like 'definitely will die'.
Put that together and the shirt says 'person/people will die'. :evil I just thought it was very interesting that Boone was wearing a shirt that says 'person will die'. :rollin
Where can I buy one of those shirts?! I saw a link on the '815' thread that said I could buy it, but when I clicked it, the page said 'product not found'.

Very interesting! I have a feeling you may be right there... I wonder if they have always planned to have Boone die...
Unfortunately, you can no longer get the 815 shirt. :( ABC e-mailed our Master Xander and requested that he take down the Lost-TV Swag Shop because of copyright infringement. It's a shame, really, because the most of the designs really were pretty unique and didn't break any laws based on my own research on T-shirt designs and sales. But if you would like to buy a shirt from Lost-TV, you may want to check this out:

Available for a limited time only!

Sinjz, I probably should've posted exactly what was translated. Which was, 8 10 5 or 8 10 4. That's where I got the 815 or 814. And, like Cinderellabop, I'll try and find the post and or screencap. But, your possible translation says a lot about our survivors, and Boone in particular.

I finally found the thread talking about Boone's shirt. You can find it here (http://p073.ezboard.com/flosttheunofficalforumfortheabcseriesfrm2.showMess ageRange?topicID=1264.topic&start=81&stop=100).
Looking for something else, and I ran across the T-shirt in question. You can find it here (http://p073.ezboard.com/flosttheunofficalforumfortheabcseriesfrm2.showMess ageRange?topicID=1264.topic&start=161&stop=177).

Thank you, Hodge. You rock! I still think there was an earlier thread that talked about it, along with Claire's necklace, and that was what I was looking for, but I suspect it was one of the ones that just fell completely off the board. I didn't even think it would be in the numbers thread as well.
Thanks again.

i read in an article that it read '84', coz chinese people say 8 10 4, and apparently its a reference to the book 1984 by George orwell about how people are watched by 'big brother'. so its sending a nod towards conspiracy theorists.

Of course Boone wearing the shirt made the language and literary allusions even more...yes, I'll say it...perfect...:bump:
