I posted about this in News & Appearences but I'll copy my post over here too.
7 cast Lost members, including Matthew Fox, Terry O’Quinn, Jorge Garcia, Daniel Dae Kim, Elizabeth Mitchell, Henry Cusick, and Michael Emerson thoroughly entertained about 200 people with their readings of various children’s plays in a benefit for Honolulu Theatre for Youth.
They had the audience cheering & laughing so hard we were crying. The first play reading was “The Little Mermaid” with Jorge & Elizabeth as Ariel & the Prince. It was such a treat to see these actors getting so involved with their parts. It was pure joy to just watch them read parts of the play.
The second and in my opinion the funniest play was done by Michael & Matthew. They read a play by a local author titled Maui vs. Hercules. The best part of the whole evening for me was watching Michael play Maui ( a Hawaiian mythological god) with his near perfect “pigeon English” accent wearing a loud colorful Hawaiian shirt. Matthew was also brilliant as Hercules. You could just tell these actors were having a ball playing these roles. I think this play got the biggest applause of the night.
Terry and Daniel were a delight doing a reading from a play about a Japanese ghost. Michael played the ghost and was so funny the other actors could barely keep from cracking up while reading their lines. It was classic!
Finally the whole group got up and read parts from Ferdinand the Bull. Most memorable were Jorge as Ferdinand & Henry as the Prince which he played with a lisp. Needless to say the whole cast got a roaring standing ovation.
Afterwards. we were all invited to a lovely cocktail & pupu (appetizer) reception where we got to meet & take pictures with the cast members. They were all so very gracious and accommodating chatting with everybody. They each mentioned how happy they were to be able to participate in this event when I thanked them for such a wonderful gift they were giving to the Honolulu Theatre for Youth.
Anyway, it was a fabulous evening and I’m so glad I got to attend!

Flub, thanks for the photos. Anyone know if that is Elizabeth Mitchell's kid? He reminds me a lot of my son at that age, only with hair--the whole fidgeting thing.
Diva, that was very aaaawww-worthy.
NPR used to do readings from children's books over the summer, with Daniel Pinkwater and Scott Simon--I think it was Penny Whistle Theater. I wish there were more of that--as you can see from the best books on tape, there's a real talent to reading a story aloud, and it sounds like this group nailed it.
Anyone know how many have kids--Fox does, and Mitchell. Emerson? Kim is married but I think no kids?

Good looking people. I guess that is why they are TV stars. I am going to Hawaii this Saturday. I wish I had some funds to raise, aside from the funds I raised to get to Hawaii. I'd love to have a little hug from Desmond.
