I haven't seen anyone make the distinction to associate the name ROM (from Ethan Rom) with the Marvel comic book character, Rom the Space Knight. And I quote...
"Rom, the Space Knight a cyborg created by the people of Galador to protect them from their mortal enemies the Wraiths. His humanity held in storage until the threat to his homeworld was over, Rom hoped some day to reclaim it. Then came the being mere name brings dred to entire star systems...
...yadda, yadda, yadda...
For 200 years, Rom tracked Wraiths across the cosmos. He was eventually led to Earth. When Rom banished Dire Wraiths to Limbo, it appeared to humans that he was killing fellow humans, as the Wraiths had disguised themselves and been living among humanity for decades."

We've already had a comic show up in a seemingly prominent scene. Maybe there is something to this too.
