Maybe they are 'LOST' (hence the name of the show) in/and stuck in purgatory...? Hmmm...

I am certainly not a die-hard religious buff, but some friends of mine brought up a good point on the show. Possibly...(POSSIBLY) they are all already dead but stuck between heaven and hell (purgatory) as they FIND themselves. The voices people are hearing and referred to as "they" (we are not alone...there are others etc.) could be angels.

Sorry if this has been brought up before already. Great show though. Love it.

I think you might be right, considering so far everyone seem to have something they need to atone for, or is running away from. add that to the fact that in real life, the people who was thrown outside the plane is the people who usually die, and the people on the plane usually lives. There is no way , ( in reality) that they could survive a crash like that....unless the island , brought them back to life. which would explain Jack's father walking around. ...but it do not explain, why his father coffin was still in tact, instead of being fire wood. it was also locked.

But...if they're already dead, what happens to that theory about the island being some sort of mechanical contraption that floats around from here to there? Machines can't die.................or can they????
