Ana-Lucia an "Other"?

That's very interesting, Karen! What makes you think she's an "Other?" Do you think she was prior to the crash, or was "indoctrinated," so to speak, after crashing on the island?

She gives me an uneasy feeling and here are the reasons...

TPTB took great pains introducing us to her...we really didn't know about Arzt until he was there, but she has become, already, a "regular" as if she was there the entire season--Ana-Lucia is getting more print on this board alone than a lot of the original castaways are...combined...

Another reason--we are a day away from season two filming and has anyone heard of anyone else joining the cast??? Are we supposed to believe that she will be the only "regular" joining if there were other survivors in the tail section?

And another--During her interaction with Jack, as she was walking away she said something to the tone of "the worst is over," which, to me, is a totally acceptable statement giving the conversation that they had, but, the way she said it...to me there was a tone that she knew what she was saying. I know TPTB say it is not time travel. But what if it is not they (the castaways) who have time travelled??? And I know TPTB have also said that no one on the plane had anything to do with the plane coming down. But can we be sure she was on the plane?? Did we see her board?? Did we see her on the plane?? There's a lot crazier stuff happening on that show to say this is far fetched IMO. Those of you who have seen the movie Millinium can probably see why that movie comes in my head (not that I am standing on a Millinium connection).

I also believe that TPTB monitor these boards, and I truly believe that half the fun for them is misleading us. It's part of the whole show. Interactive TV, if you will. I guess I just dont trust them (TPTB). :rolleyes So far it seems that nothing is as it seems.

You have some good thoughts there, Karen. I can't say I buy into your theory, but I haven't written it off either. It'll be interesting to see what transpires this fall!

*sigh* I can't say I'm too excited about this character's addition to the show for the problems it's sure to cause between Jack and Kate, but I shall leave off talking about those two in this forum. ;)

I think you might have a point there. Although it's difficult to know from a simple meeting in an airport bar, it's always possible. Given that it's LOST, I wouldn't discount her being a polar bear trainer. At least she'd bring a trait other than hotness to the show, as if she needs any other reason.

Ah ha! Another person who thinks what I do! I knew I'd find someone on here somewhere that thought the same thing as me :)

It's not only the fact that TPTB seemingly went out of their way to introduce us to her; it's also the why of it. Sure, it might be something as simple as her being the 'leader' of the other survivors of the crash, but really? What was the point of her conversation with Jack? To make him feel even worse about his father dying? Or to reassure him that things would be better now? She also seemed really rude to me. I mean, I wouldn't go up to a guy I knew lost his dad, and make a conversation from it. "Rough day?" might be a more appropriate question rather than "Why were you yelling?" "So your dad died huh?"

Sorry, I'm rambling. Maybe I just don't like her.

The oddest part of that whole scene for me was when she got the call though. Most people, as far as I know, aren't really bothered about talking on their phones in front of strangers. She's just barged into his life at the bar, yet she's shying away to chat on the phone? It also seemed like she was asked where she was - she said something about being at the airport. Almost like she was being tracked by someone. Perhaps it was one of the "others" checking up on their "crewmate" (wish I had a better description there).

Something just felt a little off about it to me.

If she is an "other" and she was on the plane, perhaps she's the reason it went down in the first place? And if the island does protect people it needs/wants for whatever reason, perhaps that's why she didn't die in the crash. Because she brought it what it needed?

Anyway, regardless of whether she is or isn't an "other" I think she'll be a major blow in camp Jack. Possibly a nemesis for Kate, a rival, or even Kate's match. I say that, of course cause MR is usually cast as a "tough chick".

It'll be interesting to find out what her purpose is. Saying that, it'll be interesting to find out more about anyone :)
