New to "Lost" and new to the board? Brimming with ideas and ready to burst? This is the forum for you! We know you’re anxious to jump right in and we don’t want you to lose your enthusiasm. We’ve designed this forum with you in mind – to get your bearings, and no, not with Sayid's faulty compass.

This forum has been created to absorb overflow from the Theories and Speculation forum. What this means is that if a theory HAS been discussed and you are a new poster, your thread will be moved HERE. That way, people can talk about it, agree, disagree, whatever, and possibly even point you to the place where it was discussed before.

This does NOT mean that new posters have to post HERE first and earn some kind of brownie points to post elsewhere. Just make an honest effort to search for evidence your theory was discussed -- and by all means if you have a new twist on an old idea, go for it. This means that you are just as entitled to post in T&S as the next person. But if you haven't done your homework, the thread will be moved HERE.

We offer this forum so you don’t get discouraged. We don’t like to close threads, but it is inevitable here, since we do not have unlimited bandwidth.

As you may or may not know, this forum is 18 months old so it's very likely that something you've come up with has been discussed. For that reason we encourage people to make use of the "search" function before posting.

That said, it is very difficult to formulate an original idea unless it’s with completely new material. We advocate reading the other forums before posting, but we know it’s impossible to digest it all and we are also aware how hard it is to sometimes find all the nuances of an idea. For this reason, we’ve created this forum so you can join the fray without fear your first idea will be shot down in under five minutes. You can post your thoughts and discuss them here without the competition of ongoing discourse in other forums.

The moderators will be very forgiving in this forum, but if your thread is not moved back to T&S, please don’t take it personally.

Please read the posting guidelines for Theories and Speculation and for the other forums.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask any of the moderators.

JG, not sure you should limit it to T&S! Have you seen the General Discussion forum lately. >D

HOdge: I edited that first post. The decision is mind.

We will see how GD goes and if it persists, we will expand this to include duplicate threads from GD. Unless you all think it should be revised NOW, which I can do quite easily.

Suil Liath, I'm all for letting things simmer down. I just didn't want GD to feel like a step-child. :D

I'll second Ks thoughts! It's a good idea, at least for now, and should stick around. Everyone knows how we all think about the multitude of repetitive threads started each week now that we're into S2. I say keep it, but that's just me! :)

hello all,

not sure where to post this question but this seems like a good place. i've looked around and don't see or know if what i'm seeking exists.

my friend is a new viewer starting season 2.
is there a thread you can direct me to where she can read about what happend in season 1?
not theories & speculation etc, just what actually happed, character backgrounds etc. just what we actually know or have seen?

thanks for any suggestions:D

Tell your friend that she can find all the missed info on the offical lost web site, they have all the recaps from season one. If she really wants too she should rent or buy the first season on dvd. Thats what i did and it really kept me caught up with what's going on in season two.

Not to cause conflict....but just one question...

As a poster and EZboard Supporter..how does this forum make T&S any less of a burden???

I mean think about it.....your just moving posts from T&S; to this forum....which means one way or another....the posts are going to be made, and the bandwith is going to be sucked. So how honestly is it working???? Maybe I didnt read it right.

I'm confused. I followed a link and arrived in this area of the board (Prelude to a Theory). I loved what I saw and wanted to come back to read more, but after I left, I couldn't figure out how to get back in. It doesn't show up anywhere.

I see General Discussion, International Discussion, etc. I see Theories and Speculation. But I don't see "Prelude to a Theory".

To find it again I had to back up into it by following an old post.

Help.

On the main menu it is called "Sometimes old is new again!!"

If you think a thread deserves being moved to a regular forum be sure to request it be moved. The mods will do their best to ignore you, so be persistent! :)

^^ Thanks, Mr. Noodleman. :)

But why's it called that?? I didn't go into that area because I didn't want to read about old theories.

The theories posted here are new and fresh and pretty darn interesting. I think they ought to change the name on the front board. Maybe to something like... say.... Oh, I know... "Prelude to a Theory".

:soapbox: This is a message of thanks. Yes a message of thanks, gather around fellow castaways. Today we give thanks to the leaders of this internet community. They in there all knowing wisdom( yeah right ;) ) have made a place that will nurture the newbies, as well as give veterans some elbow room. Not only have they done that, but they have also given us a new slick and much better home. Yes a measure of gratitude must be given to our homekeepers, the ones who take out the vile dupilcate threads. The ones who move the inapporpriate thread to the correct place. The ones who give and take their own measure of discipline. Yes today I give thanks to you the Admin, you the Mod. May all you days see greater community fellowship, and the answers to all the questions of Lost. And let not troll, or upset newbie, or out of control vertern become an obstcale for you. Thank you
