Anyway though I still think it would have been more epic if he would have died in The Hatch at the end of season 2, I think they handled his new abilities outstandingly and he acted them out like a pro. I love this character's story and it seems everything they do with him just blows me away, Flashes Before Your Eyes remains my favorite episode of season 3 and is among my favorite LOST episodes. Though Flashes wasn't as great as Live Together, Die Alone it was still fantastic, Desmond always does something cool at every turn though the fight to regain his honor, save the world and be with the person he loves was cooler than what he did in Flashes.

In my opinion they need to make this character do more than he is now, when it's not one of his episode they seem to neglect him for the most part, then when one of his comes up he's the star and totally rules the moment. They need to give him a more up-front story thing to do like with The Hatch, he went from being in the center of the main mystery to sitting around with the beach people. This character is fantastic and the actor is flawless in his portrayal of it but random abilities will only hold him up there for so long, I love how his past is portrayed but he needs some better on island stuff. Desmond flashbacks never disappoint but his last episode was almost purely flashback and since The Hatch has been gone he hasn't done much on the island, he needs to get into the whole other stuff and Hatch things seeing as he's the main link to the Dharma stuff.

He also needs to have some more screen time with Locke, these two characters work great together and they're both fairly reasonable when it comes to making a decision. Anyway they handled his abilities well even though in the beginning I wasn't too sure but they need to give him something to do.

Agreed! not too sure of the character at first, but gaining more and more respect for the actor. He is showing a remarkable range of expression from elation to bafflement to despair.

If Des and Penny don't get a happy ending, I will shoot my TV set.

You had me until here. I don't think that Locke is making rational decisions anymore. Furthermore, I think that Desmond works well with everyone... they just need to make him more of the group. I don't want to see his character's potential wasted by sitting around all the time.
