I did a search and didn't see any threads with N&P connected to A&E in GD or theories, so please merge if its already out there...

Something with the imagery of the Nikki & Paulo burial scene reminded me when we found Adam & Eve in the cave.
1) Buried together in one grave. Even though the Losties didn't know much about N&P they decided they should be buried together. Group graves is not something we've seen before: Libby & Ana Lucia died at the same time and were buried in two separate graves when it would have been easier to dig one.
2) The bags of stones. I don't recall (its been a long time since I watched season 1), but didn't we find the black and white stones in a bag with A&E? Did Sawyer through the black bag in the grave after he threw in the white diamonds?
3) A&E buried alive? This may be a stretch, but there were no broken bones, etc on A&E, and our astute Losties found no sign of trauma on N&P...were A&E buried alive too? How do you bury someone alive in a cave, you may wonder? You paralyze them with spider venom.

I'm not sayin A&E are N&P...but if A&E are supposed to be one of the major clues to the mysteries of the island, then we shouldn't underestimate the importance of the imagery and flashbacks revealed by N&P.

As far as foreshadowing goes, I am with you on this one. I even mentioned it in the spoiler thread yesterday.

Although I really don't want to believe it.

Nevermind, I misread your conclusion.

I hope they have nothing to do with the Mythology of LOST.
I personally thought they were buried together because they were (loosely) "married".

I didn't get the connection white/black diamond/bag until I read your post-nice catch-BTW! but it makes sense. I read somewhere recently that TPTB wanted to make sure that part of the show carried on.

I also give you kudos! for the Adam and Eve paralyzed by spiders tip. I NEVER would have connected those dots. You could be completely right.
Genius! Cheers to you!

Were Adam and Eve buried per se? I seem to recall them being laid out mausoleum style... The bag of stones is a nice echo, though...

I think they had more in common with Bonnie & Clyde, except more boring.

Wait doesn't the paralysis wear off?

I went back to House of the Rising Sun. Adam and Eve are not buried, ergo, not buried alive nor suffocated. They're just laid out in the cave.

Although, what if the cave was never a cave at all, but a slowly eroded away gravesite? So by the time the Losties got there the fresh water source revealed the tomb.

Did I miss the memo declaring this pointlessly (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32958) elaborate (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32958) speculation week?

Adam and Eve were 15 feet apart from each other too. I suppose shifting tectonic plates could account for that.

The entire cave itself could be considered common burial ground, eventhough the proximity of the bodies suggested no irrefutable connection. Perhaps A&E died at different times and were placed there by one of the Dharma or Other folks. Or by one of the four-toed mystics.

Exactly, I thought of the cave as a place where you bury people when you don't want to dig a hole. However, we didn't find many other remains in the cave or in nearby caves, so it doesn't seem like A&E are in burial grounds, but rather are there together for some reason.

I hope TPTB continue to interlace mythology from the past in subtle ways, if only to get people speculating about old mysteries again...

Yes. So do I. I appreciate the continuity of the story and it helps me realize, Yes, TPTB have a master plan and No, they're not just winging it at all...
I love LOST!

i dunno. i think desi and pen have more of a connection to adam and eve due to the black and white rocks they had in their apartment.

it'd be easy to assume nik and paulo were an item from all the time they spent together. they didn't really hide their love, you know. now ana lucia and libby weren't really a couple (unless you count them as a couple of crazies... ha ha ha! *ahem*). and libby was liked and ana wasn't (on the island *snicker*) and so it makes sense they weren't buried together.

Wow this show has everything including erosion and continental drift!

TIME LOOP! Lolz
I was thinking it was Jack with either Kate or Juliet. But this just might fly.
In fact, as much as I hated N/P, I like this better than J/K/J.
