a faith misplaced

I looked, I couldn't find anything the subject.
I was thinking, it's a little odd that most everyone on the show so far has been to a hospital in at least one of their respective centric episodes. Perhaps somthing was done to them while they were in the hospital. Maybe their genetic codes were modified unbeknownst to them under the guidance of an all empowering conspiracy. Maybe the DHARMA group is experimenting in creating a new Eden, and they have been intercepting each of their lives to make sure they're pathes cross and end up on the island, each with their own divine AND scientific purposes to each other. I know a lot has been posted on the biblical and spiritual aspects of the show, but I failed to find a theory that insisted that instead of the "sickness," constantly alluded to, being somthing contracted on the island, it's somthing that was purposly given to the survivors to possibly control their destiny genetically. I don't know. All pretty out there, but if someone wants to help build on this, please do.
