If you look at the numbers as latitude and longitude coordinates, they map to a spot in the pacific between Autralia and Hawaii -- isn't this where the plane crashed?

Try these on Google Earth:

04 08.15'N, 162 34.2'W

04 08 15 16 23 42

and yes, I think that is the general path their flight would have been on. BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!!??!! :D :D :D

my guess is that we find out that the numbers are the location but that the location itself has some signifigance as does the larger issues regarding why everyone in the show was specifically drawn to the island. so, i think your logic is spot on -- we will find out that the numbers lead us to the island but do not solve the mysteries of the island. it's classic lost -- create more questions by answering some questions . . .
