View Full Version : Lost island = Gilligan's Island

Think about it:
The Professor = Sayid (look what he's done without even resorting to coconuts, yet)
Skipper = Jack (sans Gilligan-whuppin hat)
Gilligan = Charlie (if Gilligan liked the H)
Mary Ann = Kate or Claire (depends on when you refer to Kate)
Ginger = Shannon (both pretty much just eye candy)
Thurston Howell III = Hurley (without the stick up his keister)
Lovey Howell = ? (must be in the tail section or it's Danielle -unkown spoiler? Eh? EH? - )
Visiting Island Natives = The Others
Arzt/Black Rock/Flight 815 = S.S. Minnow

So that leads to this postulation: Are they going to find the Harlem Globetrotters in the bowels of the Tunnels? Desmond seemed a bit behind the times, so won't surprise me to see Curly Neal and Sweet Lou Dunbar down there.

Possibly the best analogy *ever* :rollin

Now that's an interesting wrinkle to throw into the correlation mix. Ok, update:

Shaggy = Locke (You telling me John ain't all about the Scooby Snacks? I've done role playing and they are a nice additive to it.)
Scooby Doo = Vincent (only he ain't scared of hooting owls)
Fred = Jin (if Fred could whup the snot out of you...and only spoke Korean)
Velma = Sun (if Velma had an ounce of potential hottiness in her to go with her brains)
Daphne = see Ginger/Shannon
Scrappy Doo = No corresponding link, thank god. If there were, you might as well throw Locke in a leather jacket and have him jump over the jungle monster/security system on water skis.
Scooby Dum = Boone (for not thinking a plane balanced precariously on a clifftop might shift a bit with him bouncing around like Mork from Ork in there after getting a radio signal)

I'm going to have to say, it's not Gilligan or Scooby, it's The Facts of Life. Nay, it's a Facts of Life / Diff'rent Strokes crossover:

Natalie (the fat one): Hurley
Jo (the tough one): Sawyer
Tootie (the cute ethnic one): Sun
Blair (the stuck up one): Shannon
Mrs. Garrett: Jack

Arnold: Walt
Willis: Jin
Philip Drummond: Locke
Dudley: Boone
Kimberly: Claire

I can hear Desmond now =

"It would've worked, too, if it weren't for those meddling 815er's!"

Okay, Dohboy, that's just bad memories...

Is Lost the modern day Gilligan's Island?

When we see Paris Hilton and her dog appear like Zas Zsa Gabor did on Gilligan's Island, leavening the island without rescuing a single passenger.

Or

Russell Crowe showing up as a jungle man rehearsing for his next movie then running scared off the island because all the people are acting nutty.

And

Christopher Lloyd showing up in a plane as a crazy lost pilot and just before Sayid is to fly off to get help he’s knocked out and Christopher Lloyd takes off and is unable to give directions back to the island.

And can you hear the new theme song.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
a tale of a fateful trip.
That started from Australia
aboard a Boeing air ship.
Locke was in a wheelchair,
Charlie on heroin.
The passengers took flight that day,
for the good old USA, the good old USA……..
The pilots started getting lost,
the plane was way off course.
If not for ABC’s writers ,
the pacific would have been crossed, the Pacific would have been crossed
The plane hit ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle,
with the Doctor, a Criminal too,
a Millionaire, and Jin’s Wife,
the Music Star, Sawyer and the Others Clan,
They leave us hanging every time

So this is the tale of our castaways,
they're here for a long, long time.
They'll try to make 5 seasons,
string us along each time.
Mr. Sawyer and friend Kate too,
will do their very best,
not to make the Doctor mad,
when playing in there love nest.
With bears, with boars, with computer cards,
no weight loss for Hurley.
Like a Stephen King novel,
full of weird ass dreams
So join us here each week my friend,
you're sure to wince and cry.
Because they leave us hanging,
each and every time.

Sorry James, but we've already been down the Gilligans island path discussion many months ago.

It is however a nice song!

Does anybody else see a possible gilligans island if this gets to a fourth season. i personaly think that a 3rd season is gonna be hard to drag out, yes there r alot of untied ends, but if they bring in any new ones its gonna be hard to not get confused.

Lost is alot like Gilligan's Island

professor= Jack

skipper= Locke

Gilligan= Hurley

Marianne= Kate

Ginger = was Shannon but i guess the writers preferred marianne instead(dont we all?)

Mr. Howell = Bernard

Mrs. Howell = Rose

so is lost gonna end like GI did with everyone getting rescued and the making it in to a resort or better yet a theme park? i dont know i hope not but what i do hope is that the writers dont reveal all the answers in the end because any ending would not be pleasing to anyone. i hope they just leave it a mystery so that we can talk about it like we do here.

Lost is alot like Gilligan's Island

professor= Jack

Looks nothing like him, and Jack is a doctor.

skipper= Locke

The skipper had hair and drove a boat, at this point Locke has neither.

Gilligan= Hurley

Obviously there is a weight discrepancy here. Should Hurley be the Skipper?

Marianne= Kate

I have yet to see Kate in braids nor pigtails.

Ginger = was Shannon but i guess the writers preferred marianne instead(dont we all?)

Ginger was an actress. But I guess they all are on TV anyway, so you got me here.

Mr. Howell = Bernard

Old and white? Ok you win here.

Mrs. Howell = Rose

Need I even say anything here?

:boggled: What if you compared the Lost crew to the cast of Friends?

Let me see...

Lost Island = Gilligan's Island (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3322)
Gilligan's Island (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2628)

And those are just looking at thread titles, not content.

Since its already been discussed to death I've been avoiding a comparison to Gilligan's Island, but after it was revealed Nikki was an actress, and the spider-guy was a science teacher, well, you just KNOW the writers are trying to be funny.

Skipper - Jack
Gilligan - John
Millionaire - Hurley
His Wife - Libby
Movie Star - Nikki
Professor - Dr. Arzt
Marianne - Kate

It can't be a coincidence. Its too perfect.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
a tale of a fateful trip.
That started from an Australian port,
aboard this huge airship.

John was a mighty ranger man,
Jack was brave and sure.
400 passengers set sail that day,
for a 13 hour flight, a 13 hour flight…

The ride it started getting rough,
the huge airship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew,
flight 815 would be lost; flight 815 would be lost.

The ship took ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle,
with John Locke, the surgeon too,
Millionaire Hurley, and his Libby,
Nikki the TV Star,
Dr. Arzt and Kate,
here on Craphole Isle.

So this is the tale of our castaways,
they're here for a long, long time.
They'll have to make the best of things,
it's an uphill climb.

The ranger and the doctor too,
will do their very best,
to make the others comfortable,
in their tropic island hatches.

Phones, lights, and motor cars,
every single luxury.
Like Robinson Crusoe,
it's ludicrous as can be.

So join us here each week my friend,
you're sure to get a smile.
From 184 stranded Castaways,
Here on Craphole Isle.

Professor - Dr. Arzt

That's exactly what I was thinking. If they didn't blow him up, he would have definitely made a radio out of coconuts by now.
