A hatch trap?!

Ok just a crazy thought but a friend of mine and I were dicussing the show, and we brought up the episode where they find out whats in the hatch. Now my friend noticed that desmond takes some kind of medicine and al though he was at the stadium,he now appears on the island. What if Desmond was dying and he led Jack all the way to the island to cure him. I know that sounds crazy, but its not a bad thought.
