If anyone read any of the Terry Pratchett diskworld books they might 'get' this theory of mine.

Any way if you havnt read any diskworld the point is on the diskworld magic can happen all the myths that exist on earth are real on the diskworld. eg the world IS flat, Dragons are real, people can to Magic etc.
But what they dont know and neither do most people that have read the books that the world is just a giant machine/system/computer. Which is all being run very deep under the ground This is all explained in another book by Terry Pratchett called Strata.Aanyway the how and why is not whats important here. Its the concept.

• Where did the 'monster' try and pull locke ? Underground.
• What happens to the trees the 'monster' trashes? they seem to get pulled Underground.
• Where does the hatch lead? Underground.....

Lost the Island, Underground is where its all being 'run' from, well it makes sense in my little head LOL

Why its there and who is running it and all the number crap, i have no idea. But i think the island being a giant 'system' could be true.

Welcome XMin Ruckus. Please read the welcome forum and posting guidelines. I have never heard of diskworld, to the best of my knowledge it has never been discussed here. Enjoy your stay.

You didn't do anything wrong. ;) We have a lot to read here, so enjoy yourself. drabauer hasn't weighed in yet, but I think you brought us a new literary reference. That's always good.

I've heard "similar" ideas in that it's a catch basin for myth and legend, but nothing about disk world per se. Keep talking; you're fine.

As a fan of the diskworld series and all the rest, I've decided to bump this thread. This theory was mentioned by none other then myself some time ago, where it was suggested that there could be a chair similar to the one in Strata that the 'machines' are kidnapping poor denizens of said world and strapping them into in order to give commands and fix problems. The world however is breaking down and the 'eyes of God' (ravens) have been sent to help find new candidates for the 'chair'. Anyway, the idea here really is that the island is in someway 'breaking' down and needs some elements from our castaways in order to fix it. What I loved about the disk world series was that it incorperated high brow science along with its comedic take on magic and there was a series of books based on the 'science of diskworld' which was actually rather a good analysis of modern day scientific understandings. Anyway, anyone who hasn't read Pratchet (who is as wise as he is funny) should give him ago........

oh diskworld, you must of meant DiscWorld. the monster isnt probally deep under ground but may use pips very close to the surface to get around
