View Full Version : Does anybody care about the monster?

Ok, this is just crazy!
Kate and Juliette encountered the monster and they barely escaped. This "thing", Cerberus or whatever you want to call it, demonstrated that is more dangerous than anything alive on that island, It killed and killed, it scared the bejeepers out of most islanders, still they all go along with the soap-opera, the little love triangles, the don't ask dont tell attitude!
Is this a planned scenario or just a missed facade of this show? I hope TPTB wake-up soon and start presenting the priorities these people face every day and then show Kate dressing up ...or down,... many, many times, pleeeeeease! :D

Who want a Smokie flashback raise their hands!

PS Hey Hodgepodge, when I clicked New Thread, I imagined the kitten jump on my hand!:rofl1:

CON-FLICKT, I've never been a fan of Smokie. I figured it couldn't be explained without going into some Sci-F, alien, mumble-jumble crap. I personally wished they'd never introduced it. Although, I didn't mind seeing its affect on Juliet in One of Us. I thought it was interesting it only scanned her instead of Kate. That tells me, Kate's been scanned before.

Oh, and nice kitty! :nanabobo:

Still, Smokie "pops up" when least expected (except on the beach), and creates a damage that changes the storyline. Let's clarify once (TPTB) and for all, what are we dealing with? If Smokie wouldn't exist, a lot of guys would be out of Lost, 'cause S3 is definetly addressed to Venusians. Well... except moments like last night when Evi was dressing up(darn it!) and I found myself talking like in Blazing Saddles ; "Lilly, Lilly, Lilly...

*refreshed* OK I'm back! Still... from wikipedia:
"Smoke is the airborne solid and liquid particulates and gases evolved when a material undergoes pyrolysis or combustion, together with the quantity of air that is entrained or otherwise mixed into the mass. It is commonly an unwanted by-product (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/By-product) of fires (including stoves (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stove) and lamps (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamp)) and fireplaces, but may also be used for pest control (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pest_control) (cf. fumigation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fumigation)), communication (smoke signals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoke_signals)), defense (smoke-screen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoke-screen)) or inhalation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inhalation) of tobacco (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tobacco_smoking) or other drugs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychoactive_drug). Smoke is sometimes used as a flavouring agent and preservative for various foodstuffs. Smoke is also sometimes a component of internal combustion engine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_combustion_engine)exhaust gas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exhaust_gas), particularly diesel exhaust (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel_exhaust).
Smoke inhalation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoke_inhalation) is the primary cause of death (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death) in victims of indoor fires (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire). The smoke kills by a combination of thermal damage, poisoning (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poison) and pulmonary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lung) irritation caused by carbon monoxide (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_monoxide), hydrogen cyanide (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_cyanide) and other combustion products.
Smoke particles are actually an aerosol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Particulate) (or mist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mist)) of solid particles and liquid droplets that are close to the ideal range of sizes for Mie scattering (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mie_theory) of visible light (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visible_light). This effect has been likened to three-dimensional textured privacy glass—the smoke cloud does not obstruct an image, but thoroughly scrambles it."
I love these scientific descriptions!
So at the next Smokie encouter, just to piss it off, call it: "You pest controling, cloud of diesel exhaust!":nanabobo:

All he did was walk around all serious and stuff, and blather on about building a freaking church. And that was when he was being interesting. Heck, he didn't even talk for like 40 days. Sorry, but that's as boring as it gets.

A lot of Ekologists will differ in their opinion. I think that we expected a lot more from him and it was all just smoke and mirrors...

No problemo! Heck, Smokey probably didn't even realize Eko was an animate object. He probably thought he was a hunk of drift-wood, you know? And the Smokester was thinking to his-smokey-self, "What in the hell is a hunk of drift-wood doing out in the middle of the jungle??!! This is crazier than that stupid boat!!!" So the Smokester just picked up the hunk of drift-wood, and started slamming it all around the place. After he got his little bit of morning smokercise, he took off.

Perhaps Smokie senses when a character is "bad" for plot development, and responds thusly?
