I just had a thought cross my mind. I may just not remember at the moment, but i can't recall ben ever wielding a weapon, except when he beat up Sawyer, and that was just a stick basically. Do you think Ben has ever killed someone? Someone mentioned what he said to Ana-Lucia in a thread somewhere, "you're the killer, Ana-Lucia", which triggered the thought-crossing lol.

I don't think so Rizzle. Just like a mob boss, he gets someone else to do the dirty work.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking actually, a mob boss lol.

On the other hand, the way he handled Sawyer gave me the idea that he's no stranger to violence either.

I just think that for a man that seems to be the orchestrator of so much wicked stuff, it would be a fairly amusing reveal that he's never killed anybody. Bare with me for a while when I say this, but killing a person makes you more complete. The way a person deals with his or her problems says a lot about their character if you're intuitive. The mental challenge of overcoming committing a murder would be proper grain for Ben to go against. A person like Ben (whose cunning is only exceeded by his love for mind games) not having taken a life in his lifetime, is comparable to a doctor never having sown a stitch before. Imo. So with that in mind, it would be amusing indeed if Ben was "softer" than what the show would have you believe.

It's a stupid thought and I'm using expressions that aren't even valid in the context of what i'm proposing, and this is not really my normal process of thought, but I couldn't find a better way to explain myself lol.

Nice thought Rizzle. Ben murdered his own flesh and blood--his father. And he contributed to the slaughter of The Dharma Initiative. Slaughter. Man, women and children. At least, that is what we were led to beleive.

Ben wasn't that heartless; He closed Mr. Goodspeed's eyes.

Yeah, so much for Ben's insistence to Sawyer, "we're not killers." Ben lied! Catch me, I'm going to faint!

Seriously, though, Ben made a big deal to AnaLucia and to Sawyer about NOT being killers. No big shock that he is willing to lie, but I always thought there were some grains of truth in his lies. I guess that wasn't one of them. Ben has patricide and genocide under his belt. Anything else will just be a letdown for him.

What I found ironic was Ben's insistence Locke wasn't the man we thought he was, because he couldn't kill Cooper. We know Ben's jealous of Locke's connection with the island. It was like Ben was trying to bring him down to his level. He killed Roger Work Man and if Locke was half the man, he'd kill Cooper. Make any sense?

After TMBTC, I think we see a whole new layer of meaning to Ben wanting Locke to kill Cooper. But was Ben trying to hurt Locke or help him? What do you make of the fact that Richard also told Locke "your father has to go"? Given Richard's role in Ben's life (assuming it was the same guy), did Richard tell Ben he had to personally kill his own father? Why not just gas him with the rest? Was that Ben's choice or Richard's? Ben may have been put to the same test as Locke -- kill your father and you can know the secrets to the Island. On the other hand, Ben's patricide might have kept him from completely fulfilling his Island destiny, and he wants to make sure Locke has the same handicap.
