Episode Description:

Sun discovers the identity of her unborn child's father after being examined by Juliet. Meanwhile, Desmond allows an unlikely foe to help save the life of a mysterious new island inhabitant.

Ain't It Cool gave this episode 5 stars. What a crock of s**t. This episode was absolute garbage, and the direction they're taking this storyline in is starting to piss me off. If what that girl said is true, I'm gonna frakkin' vomit. It totally cheapens the entire first 3 frakkin' seasons. I won't threaten to stop watching or anything, on the off chance they'll redeem themselves, but this girl had better be lieing through her teeth with what she said about Flight 815.

As for "Oops," Hurley has one better line this episode. It's at the end.

Ugly Betty crossover fact: Betty (who speaks Spanish) had to call a clinic in Brazil, and those in the know said she wasn't speaking Spanish, but exactly the language a Spanish speaker who knew a few words of Portuguese would attempt. The languages are close enough that people can understand each other--subtleties would be lost, but "I'm dying" or "I'm hurt" or "Help" or "Idiots" ought to get across.

He called me a moron. Seems pretty personal. I don't really care, I just wish some people could show a little more maturity, and try to "talk it out" before attacking other people. Not on this board, just in general, but if I can get people here to change, it's a start.

As for the languages, if she was going to this island, it's entirely possible they just taught her a bunch of phrases in different languages, in case she doesn't meet someone who speaks english immediately.

And as for Juliet, mark my words! I STILL think she's gonna end up stabbing The Others in the back. She hates Ben. HATES him. She tried to get Jack to KILL him earlier this season. No, she's got other motives here for sure.

I think that the intersting thing about Juliets character is that you don't know when she is lying or not. In regards to if Bakunin knows who Desmond is or not, I'd say he has too, since he either is an Other, or is affiliated with The Others. He knows where their stations are, etc, etc. They had cameras in The Swan, so you can be The Others know about Desmond, and for that matter Kelvin, assuming he wasn't an Other... which he probably was or is.

Hm... maybe the island has a 5x fertility rate on purpose. If the original Dharma videos were true and they were trying to save the world, some sort of toxin or plant or something in the air on the island could have been inserted there to make the island more productive if the race ever needs to repopulate. But whatever they did to increase the sperm count might have damaged the sperm themselves to the point where it passes an infection on to the mother.

Yeah, and this is probably how she found out in the first place. Before that, she just knew he was poor, lived a shameful life, and thought he had dead parents.


I dont' understand why these people take everything at face value. Wouldn't you be asking some questions. Like, "WHY does every pregnant woman die?" And why on earth would they believe ANYthing these people say???!


You would have to assume they probably asked some of these questions outside the scene, and since the viewer knows the answers (or the answers that Juliet would give anyway), then it wasn't shown. Just like how Kate apparently explained to Charlie who Bakunin was, and that's how Charlie recognized him. They didn't show it, but it happened.

I just registered for this forum to translate what was said by the girl in the parachute. She was speaking Spanish at the beginning. At the end when the Russian said she had said thank you he was VERY incorrect.

She was speaking italian.

I speak portugese fluently and can understand both Italian and Spanish without a problem. This is not because they sound 'similar' but it is because all three are based from latin. Most words come from a common source and if you can pick them out you can understand.

She basically said tem otrous, which translates to there are others. I don't recall what she said before that but those are the words I were able to directly translate. I don't think that was a reference to 'the others' but rather there were other people with her which makes sense in the direct translation rather than the literal.

Makes sense why they axed Shannon so quickly. Probably to avoid this storyline for now, and to kill a character off early in Season 2. Kill two birds with one stone. Also convenient for Ana-Lucia, after she <snip> Sawyer.

Probably means Kate's pregnant though, and that being said, she could be the major death at the end of teh season, too. Avoid that storyline altogether? Kill off Charlie (supposedly) and Kate so they can both leave Hawaii?
