Just wanted to put this out there for all those confused about Jack's ability as a doctor. I've heard nothing but complaints such as "He's suddenly an eye doctor?" or "How would he know this or that when it's not his field of practice".....

Do any of you watch the new show, Grey's Anatomy? If you do, the character Patrick Dempsey plays seems like a well rounded surgeon, right? Is actually going for chief (which is what Jack's father was)......well his actual practice is listed as 'Neurosurgeon'. As I stated in another thread, you don't get a specialty like that and not know all the other basics.

Oh and my $.02...if you haven't watched this new show, you're missing out.

I'll leave this one here for now, but it really belongs in Jack's forum.

I thought of putting it there but since the comments have been made in several threads, not just Jack threads, I thought I'd put it in general.

I'll leave this one here for now, but it really belongs in Jack's forum.

Yeah, I figured that was why you put it here, and that's why I'm leaving it here for the time being. I'll move it eventually, but let it stay here for now, so people will see it. :)

Gray's Anatomy, I have been meaning to watch it. I know it is set in Seattle, is it actually filmed in Seattle?

I work in Seattle and I don't remember hearing anything about the show. Though I barely watch the local news.

Jack may have the knowledge but his CPR skills and instructions for delivering a baby sure were lacking.

You're too late. I already made a thread about all the connections between Grey's Anatomy and LOST, and my thread is way cooler than this one.

Hmm, good point. Guess I will close this one and bump (and edit) your original thread.

Edit... actually I think I will just move to Jack's forum, as originally intended.

Actually, I don't see austra's thread being the same as this thread at all. The point about it being in General since Jack's skills as surgeon are all over the place is valid as well I would think.

Though I suppose moving all those threads to Jack's forum now would be kinda difficult.

Dsera, I haven't missed an episode. A really good medical show.

And you're right. Patrick Dempsey's character is a neurosurgeon. But, you don't start operating on someones brain without having a well rounded surgical residency.

You mean Patrick Dempsey. :p

Is Patrick Dempsey's character's last name on the show Shepard? Just like Jack? Or is that something else? No, I'm pretty sure both of their last names is Shepard. I heard that and I was like 'Hey Just like Jack! Wierd!' Did anyone else catch that?

(Off topic but its about doctors...)- I just watched 'House' last night for the first time. I was like DANG this show is hilarious! That House guy is pretty funny! :rollin

From
IMDB (http://
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001131/):
"Grey's Anatomy" (2005) TV Series .... Dr. Derek Shepherd

But Charlie ... er, Jack (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0289142/) is:
"Lost" (2004) TV Series .... Jack Shepard

Different spellings, same idea. Perhaps they're related in some weird TV-land kind of way.

Eh... they're close enough! I didn't know how it was spelled on Grey's Anatomy though, I just heard that he was doctor Shepherd. Oh well, thanks for clearing it up anyway!

I'm not sure if anyone else saw this episode or noticed but in one instance there was an episode iof Grey's Anatomy which revolved around an experience man being drunk in the operating room. Dr. Shepherd had some issues with that and later confronted the man. I was reminded very much of Jack in All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues.
