*Ep20 - Did we see any TLE payoff?*

Okay. We're finally here. The moment of truth.

We've gotten a little payoff already with Mr. Paik in "D.O.C." - the logo we see Sun walk past is for PAIK HEAVY INDUSTRIES, and the conversation that Sun walked in on was about the HANSO FOUNDATION providing forged shipping documents.

But this week. This is IT. The HISTORY of the Island. Of DHARMA.
Judging from the previews, we are going to see this.
The Valenzetti Equation, the Orientation film, the NUMBERS, the radio tower, the food drops......how much of this from TLE will be covered in this episode? Will they even mention this stuff? I believe they HAVE TO if TPTB are telling the truth and saying that TLE was canon to the show. We just got this info last summer.
Now, the broadcast audience will all get the 42 minute rundown about DHARMA and the history of the Island.

Not to mention we'll get all kindsa added bonuses....like the INCIDENT!?!?!? *crosses fingers*
And on top of that....will we see ALVAR?

I don't read ANY SPOILERS, so aside from the preview that aired after "The Brig", I know NOTHING about this episode.
Lets keep this thread that way.
Speculations only. NO SPOILERS. Please. :)

I summary, I believe THIS episode will be the payoff episode for all of us who played TLE last summer.
If you remember, it was THIS week last season that thehansofoundation.org reopened its doors. ;)
1 year later, we get the payoff. I like it.

Wow, Truff, I wasn't even thinking on these lines until I read this post. I've been pondering it off and on all day. I can't wait to see if it's like seeing one of my favorite books brought to life brilliantly in film.

You could probably infer from the mass Dharma killing that THAT's why the Initiative stopped in 1987, according to Mr. McIntyre.

What if it's not Alvar but Alvar's grandpa. They just still got Ian Williams to play Magnus, too! That would make more sense as to why he's on the Island. Because don't we know Alvar's under locks when Rachel visits him???

I'm not convinced that Alpert has gotten the pay-offs of LEP. I mean, there was no confirmation, so I don't take it as a pay-off from the episode last night.

Yes, we see his aging process is out of whack and doesn't make sense, but there could be another reason and I think it's too soon to assume that it was something to do with LEP.

You're right, ILE, its still speculation about HLEP being involved.

And I realized too, that predates TLE - it was on the original Hanso site after "Orientation" aired! :)

I guess it's speculation, but it seems about as concrete as you can get without Alpert coming straight out and telling you that's what happened. His appearance, Ben's line to him about birthdays (good double meaning on that one). Looks pretty sound to me.

I absolutely don't rule it out. I want to see TLE give us pay offs in the show, so I think it would be cool if he was.

Hey guys I had a thought. When The Hostiles formally know as Others left their community they trashed the place. Did they want to make it look like they had been attacked? Is Hanso coming because Locke pushed 77 and broke communcation?

I answered you in the epi thread, Truf. More likely to be Magnus since the TLE was in real time, plus golden oldie Alpert was dressed in what looked like a colonial Williamsburg raggy outfit, would make it the Black Rock era. I'm not getting my hopes up anymore that any Dharma/Hanso background will be used, after what they did to the Dharma group I cant. Not a mention or anything of the Degroots in Ben's FB, I think the fans would have really loved it especially ones that got turned off by spending all the time on the TLE. I know it would have made me very contented.

After the direct TLE tie-in in "D.O.C.", I am very hopeful that the info that we learned in TLE, like the history of Magnus and the Black Rock, and some of the specifics about the Hanso Life Extension Project will eventually make its way onto the show.

The Valenzetti Equation, the DHARMA acronym, stuff like that probably won't ever get a mention.
But where the food/supply drops come from (Hanso Foundation), Black Rock history, LEP, etc......that stuff can easily come into play still.

And IF Jacob ends up actually being MAGNUS HANSO, then I will squeeeee very loud. :D

Mikhail did say "Magnificent" man...Magnificent, Magnus.....see where I'm goin with this? ;) (and its been speculated back then too.)
