Why didn't Sun threaten to kill the prostitute BEFORE paying her!?!

I can't believe how stupid Sun was in s03e18.

Sun's confronted by a woman who threatens to reveal that Jin's mother was a prostitute - that is unless Sun pays her $100,000.

Who the hell was going to believe that stupid wench anyway? PLUS after paying the hooker, Sun threatened to have her killed if she told anyone. Why the hell didn't Sun just threaten to kill her in the first place and save $100,000?

On top of that, by borrowing the money from her father, Sun sold her husband's soul to the devil.

Early on in the show, Sun used to bitch and moan about how Jin wasn't the same caring, romantic man he used to be. Well HELLO Sun? You knew you were the one to blame for it in the first place, so why were you flapping your mouth?

Basically, all the problems Sun ever had after her marriage in Korea were the result of her own stupidity.

I don't think Sun wanted to take the chance. The money meant nothing to her. Her family uses money as a vehicle to keep people in check. This was a way for her to save Jin's honor. If Sun's family is as powerful as they seem to be, then Sun's threat would be all that's required to keep the woman in check.

On top of that, Sun didn't just pay $100,000, she also fated her husband to a life of bonded labour for her father.

Wasn't she smart enough to know that she was turning her husband into a murderer and that he would never be allowed to quit alive?
