They were going to burn her at the stake. Why wouldn't she reveal what was on the other side of the tape? That way she comes out looking like she was going to tell them all along. If she wa going to tell them all along, she would have told them the day she heard it the first time. Otherwise that is poor writing.

Excellent point. Just when you think you have her figured out, she flip-flops. I don't trust her, either. But I'm not necessarily positive she'd go back to Ben...
It's pretty clear to me that she is only concerned with getting her own butt off the island. I think she'll screw anyone over, including Jack, to make it happen too.

Jack didn't let her tell them anything until he was sure about what they should do...
She really wants off the Island bad, I dont think she has any intention of going back to the others, unless it would some how help her get off the Island.

Interesting, but why not tell them on day one?

If she'd spilled the beans on day one, no one would've believed her. Cue Sayid: "She's lying!"

Simple. The writers wanted us to start to doubt Jack, using J as a vehicle. Next two episodes, he'll probably turn into a superhero and save everyone. It's their way of getting our emotions up, even if the getting us there makes no damn sense.

If they told everyone what was going on but had no plan to deal with it then many of the losties would panic.
Jack can be trusted, but his judgement - that's another issue.
She can't and shouldn't be trusted. Additionally, there is no need to default to Jack as leader and the obvious stance should be that the Sawyer/Sayid group be more involved as the story seems to lead to. Jack's arrogance in his own with holding of info and at their witholding of info is unacceptable.

Sayid and Sawyer were guilty of witholding information as well. The only one who is open with everyone is Kate.

A little too open. Especially "open" with Sawyer.

She seems to be doing exactly what she did with the handcuff key, at Ben's coaching: if caught in a lie, own up to it, with enough extra (the "I didn't want to be left behind" stuff in the first, the "turn the tape over" in the second case) to make it seem you're now coming clean. They didn't come out with this until outed...they get no points from me. No assumption that they were on the verge of explaining, gosh darn it, that exact thing when Sawyer showed up with the tape! Quelle coincidence!

It's not his decision to make. He should have been willing to share with the women who might be pregnant, and the whole camp, as soon as possible. Thinking up the awesome fixit plan first is not a requirement. He could, logically, be mulling over the best possible course right up until the others show up in force.
Jack's arrogance in his own with holding of info and at their witholding of info is unacceptable.
Exactly. They'd better be really mad at him--I'll accept cooperation in the rush of coming events, but not "oh, glad you told us that stuff we just found out on our own; what are your orders?"
Sayid and Sawyer were guilty of witholding information as well. The only one who is open with everyone is Kate.
Kate's line about how she told Jack because he's a doctor (gee, I don't remember her mentioning Naomi was wounded) followed by his sprinting off with Juliet (leaving messages for Ben?) rather than to see the patient made that part of her speech to Sayid silly. Her claim that Sayid might want to start telling everyone in camp--evidently not her job; running to Jack and Juliet is her job--made it even sillier. She doesn't seem terribly concerned with letting "everyone" know what's happening.
I'm all for telling the camp. First distracting the highly untrustworthy Juliet (as Sayid says, every time they ask her questions Jack says she can't answer) and moderately untrustworthy Jack (see above) would make sense. But telling Jack and Jules first thing, then watching them head out of camp at a brisk trot--Kate is pathetic.

Notice that it is only after Kate insists that Sayid tell everyone that there is a "town meeting" and Sayid is telling all of the losties about Naomi etc. It isn't Kate's place to tell everyone because nobody looks to her for leadership. They do however, look to Jack for leadership. That's why she tried to tell him because they were keeping him in the dark.
Think about what would have happened had Jack informed everyone on the beach right away as soon as Juliet had told him. He'd be telling them that some may be pregnant, they were going to die before they could give birth, and the others would be storming the beach in a couple of days to kidnap them and use them as guinea pigs. On top of all that the one person that everyone (meaning all the regular losties) looks to for leadership has no plan of action to protect them. They'd all panic. Sayid would probably try to take matters into his own hands. Some would go along with his plan, some would wait for Jack and go with his plan, and the losties forces would be split instead of united. At least this way everyone will be making a stand together. They may actually have a chance.
