Anyone Else SEE Jacob??

I saw Jacob. He is real, I saw him right after Ben was thrown to the wall. I didn't see any other threads about this so I started one. Jacob is real, he is there, I saw him. He has a sharp chin and soft light hair combed over his head. Also that is certainly his eye since Ben is already looking at Locke and Locke has blue eyes. The eyes are clearly brown and clearly turn toward Locke.

That whole scene when Ben starts to talk to nothing in the chair and he seems insane, i started to laugh, then when the poo hit the fan in that cabin i got real quiet and freaked out.

I think this was the "jump the shark moment". When I saw Ben talking to an empty chair, I laughed to myself. Ahh, we're supposed to believe that Ben sees something there. That scene made me chuckle until I rewatched it. I tape video and can watch it frame by frame. This is what I saw:
At one point when Locke was first heading to the door Jacob looked like Locke. It then at the point after Ben confronts the empty chair and gets thrown back, I saw an old man with a flattened nose, slightly receding hair and a beard. He didn't resemble anyone. I'll try for a screen cap if I can.

Now I'll rewatch that scene again, because I'm not sure if the Jacob who looked like Locke was a shape shift or not.

We know Smokey can make many things appear. Like Yemi. Or black smoke. Or even Emily Linus! We also know (from the frame-by-frames in "Psalm 23") that Smokey can scan the minds of those present and replicate images from those minds.

So I think the simplest explanation (based what we know, which is admittedly pretty amazing) is that this is Smokey and he's merely throwing up some flashes that may or may not have an many to John or Ben.

I'd also point to the Wizard of Oz inversion.

In the Wizard of Oz, those Lost in the strange land go in search of the great leader, the Great and Powerful Oz, who manifests as a great thunderous smoking head. But he's actually a little man behind the curtain (thus the episode title and Locke's comment to Ben). And that main arrived in Oz by balloon.

In "Lost," Locke goes in search of the great leader, Jacob, with the strong suspicion that he's really a fraud perpetrated by a "man behind the curtain" in the form of Ben, who once impersonated someone who arrived here by balloon (and shared a name with another Wizard of Oz character). But instead, Locke finds that Jacob really is thunder and smoke and may be incredibly powerful. Instead of Locke seeking Jacob's help, Jacob asks Locke to help him.

I'm so happy for this site and the fact we have pictures of this. That scene really made me angry, believing that there was no one in the chair, and Ben was just acting crazy. Or the Wizard of Oz was hiding behind the wall pulling strings. I swear I heard a chain rattle.

The pictures just scream why you need a forum in order to watch Lost. I'm very glad there was something else in that room besides Ben and Locke.

I also thought there had to have been something going on, because afterwards, Ben acted very shaken and upset that Locke had heard Jacob. He was very un-Ben. Great ep. Great catches with the screen grabs.

I think we're not getting more concrete than Yemi answering to Eko, "You talk to me as if I'm your brother?" in an angry, insulted tone. Eko realizes he's not talking to Yemi but something that poses as Yemi and runs after him, and then we see Smokey who picks him up and smashes him against trees. It wasn't Yemi in that confrontation, because we saw an image where the real Yemi didn't mind walking off with his bad bro as Eko died. I don't think we can get it more concrete than that, unless there's a voiceover explaining to us that it was Smokey posing as Yemi.

Ok, I've felt that Jacob was some sort of version of Locke and after playing around on Photoshop, I've found myself extremely convinced. First, I found a picture of Locke where his face was at the very same angle as Jacob's. This is the image (http://www.losttv-forum.com/captures/files/8/7/7/9/313_1461.jpg) I used. I then flipped it, brightened it, resized it, and cut out the background so that I could match it up to Jacob. That gave me this picture:

I'm unsure of how to make a GIF of Locke being placed over the, so you'll to tell by the series of pictures..

Not Locke, face is a different shape, look at the chin. The chins are completely different sizes and shapes. The spaces between nose and mouth are different too. Also there is the eye.

What I found interesting was that Ben was putting on this show of talking to Jacob. Wether he did or not I'm not sure.. The really interesting part is how Ben reacted when he knew Locke was spoken to by Jacob. They've spoke of Locke being a great man, someone they have been waiting on.

When Locke beats the crap out of the Russian (Mikel?) everyone stands around and doesn't do a thing. Maybe Locked is the main man and everyone knows it? Maybe Locke (who always said he was supposed to be there for a reasdon) is the main guy, maybe Locke IS what we THINK Ben is. I found Ben's reaction very odd when he noticed Locke heard Jacob speak. Maybe he now knows that Locke is a great man, and perhaps Locke is supposed to be able to talk to Jacob. Maybe that's why he shot Locke? He seemed almost scared when he found out that Jacob said "Help Me". I think he was threatened when he found out Locke could hear Jacob and that's why he shot him.

What or who Jacob is defeats me. I don't think he's a 'person' as such, I also don't think he's Smokie. I think he/it controls smokie.

Where did Jacob come from? Was he part of the Dharma initiative? Was he a hostile? Maybe he is Alvar, and that's maybe why he's asking for help?

Once again, Lost gives us a million and one questions, but atleast it was a good episode :D

Jacob could have been a more physical character in the past. My theroy guesses that he is so old that his physical self has pretty much faded away and only his true self (spirit, will, intelligence, his energy self) remains. The other others could see his in the past and this is why Locke is so important now because he looks alot like Jacob.

This episode is like the finale to me. I think all others will be weak after it. Or will they?

I may just be looking into to this too much, but the situation looks very different when looking at the two screenshots. It's more noticeable watching back now too.

Obviously, one has fire in it, and the next one doesn't -- that just means the flame passed or was lower a second later.

As for the Jacob image, it looks almost a bit "Christ-like" as in the longer hair, beard and similar facial features to many Christ images. This could be an important symbolic link to the show.

Thanks again-I never would have known about that, I thought he was invisible the entire time. In fact, I thought perhaps he was related somehow to the invisible monster we see ravaging the jungles sometimes.

By the way-I am guessing the original poster just accidently typed his numbers in wrong, probably he meant something like 23:45 or 33:45 or something similar. I don't recall exactly when that scene occured in the episode.

For what its worth though,I missed it the first time I watched it and was amazed when someone pointed it out with a screen-shot of Jacob. When I watched the episode again this morning, I actually seen Jacob in the chair, although it's just a very quick flash. Eagle eyes required!!!

I'm not sure if anyone noticed this yet (so many posts on this board), but during the chaotic scene in the cabin, right after Jacob throws Ben back against the wall, the camera pans back quickly to the rocking chair and Jacob is there.

I did search through the boards a bit, but just saw theories about who Jacob could be.

I watched the scary cabin scene and for a split second after Ben grabs the chair and says "enough you've had your fun" you CAN SEE Jacob sitting in the chair. I think Locke sees him too. I can't believe I didn't notice before! After Ben is thrown back against the wall and the camera pans left then back to right He is sitting right there. :D

If you pause and go frame by frame, you will have a clear outline of a face and body. The outline of the face ironically looks like Locke.

It seems that Ben was jealous that Locke also heard Jacob's voice and that's why he shot him - to continue with his control over the others.

Anyone else have any thoughts on who the outline looked like?

I couldn't believe no one else has posted about this. The first time I watched the show, I didn't see it. The second time, I thought I caught a glimpse, so I did a frame by frame - and it is a significant length.

I think somehow, Ben has Jacob "captured" and that's why Ben shot Locke because he heard Jacob say "help me". T

Also, the latern Ben carried in falls over and starts a fire in the cabin when it is shaking. When Ben comes out, he hangs the same lantern. It would seem to be some kind of mind control.
