Clair's evil baby. Dropped storyline?

Early on in the series, wasn’t Clair's baby supposed to end up doing something terrible? Wasn’t she at like psychic’s house and he threw her out because the baby was evil, or something to that effect?

Also, it seems that:

Get pregnant on the island, the mom dies.
Get pregnant off the island, the baby dies.

From what I remember, Clair needed shots to keep her from losing the baby. Sun will need shots to keep her alive before her baby eventually kills her.

Just thinking out loud, trying to remember things that may or may not be accurate...

Didn't she eventually go through the baptism of her baby? I thought that she eventually capitulated to Charlie/Eko.

And as far as I know, the shots are jsut to protect people from getting the "virus". I don't believe it has any affect on mothers, as Ben certainly would have tried to save them if he could.

No one ever said the baby was evil. This was an assumption a lot of people made. All that was said was that the baby was in danger and must not be raised by another. Here is the transcript:

MALKIN: It is crucial that you, yourself, raise this child.

CLAIRE: You mean with Thomas? Is he..

MALKIN: The father of this child will play no part in it's life, nor yours.

CLAIRE: So what exactly are you saying?

MALKIN: This child parented by anyone else, anyone other than you -- danger surrounds this baby. . .

CLAIRE: Danger?

MALKIN: Your nature, your spirit, your goodness, must be an influence in the development of this child.

CLAIRE: If Thomas and I don't get back together I'm putting this baby up for adoption. I just wanted to find out what would give the baby the happiest life.

MALKIN: There is no happy life -- not for this child, not without you.

CLAIRE: I don't. . .

MALKIN: It can't be another. You mustn't allow another to raise your baby.

Gotcha. Now, those two lines may prove interesting. Sort of like a prelude to the natives raising the baby. Problem is, we've only got a few more seasons left. No real time for that to happen now.

We also found out that MALKIN was a con artist, so everything he said about the baby, was to put her on that plane. Jacob made him do it.
