View Full Version : Personal questions on the Experience

I didn't participate in TLE heavily last year, and I was pretty much left out of the majority of the action. Although I kept track of most of the happenings, there are still some things that I'm not sure of.

As such, there are somethings that I am still unclear about, but I feel may relate to the experience as a whole (as well as a few theories on my own):

1. Just what was Cindy's relationship with Gary Troup, and does it ever factor in her appearances throughout the show ?

This one's kinda important; from the way I see it, Cindy was the only person directly referenced in the Lost Experience who has played some role in the show itself.

2. Has there been any indication of the in-show time that Lost would end with ?

This one's a vague question, but it's something like this; Lost is currently in the 2004-2005 period (I could be wrong, but that's how it seems). The Experience (like the 'Beast' of A.I. fame before it) apparently took palced after the events of the show. Or maybe not. Perhaps it's another way of asking if characters from the Experience figure in the show, but I feel the timeline may also be related.

After all, the big payoff of the experience was the Orientation video hosted by Alvar Hanso himself, something that could not seen on the show itself. Would the show end just before the Experience starts, or would it continue on to involve the Experience until the conclusion ?

3. This one's a production question, but, have any of the actors and actresses involved in the Experience, from Jamie Silberhartz to Ian Patrick Williams been signed on for the show itself ?

While I don't think it'd ever happen, I'll be tempted to wish it did.

Just to end off... I personally do not think Alvar was on the island. Alright, maybe I'm wrong, and truffula could be very, very right (and I think that there is a high possibility that he may have went to the island), but it just seems out of place. If anything, I feel he may have been captured by Mittlewerk earleir on, and he has been kept locked up in his home for longer then we thought he was.

That being said, I don't doubt the possibility that, barring any outside visits to the island, the workings of the Dharma Intiiative, and the conflict shown in the Purge, may have been continuously tracked. Mittlewerk already said that the Initiative failed (otherwise he wouldn't embark on the Spider protocol), so, any of the happenings on the island must have been tracked. The only question is... by who.

~

Oh, and if I had one last theory about the Experience as a whole.... we are not certain who was the person referenced in "she was a member of the Hanso Foundation". Although many interpreted it as beign Rachel Blake, there's something about Marvin's comment in the last DJ Dan podcast that didn't seem right. Blake worked for Widmore, not the Foundation itself. Let me phrase it in another way; Widmore was one group by itself, and even though the Intiiative was funded by the Hanso Foundation, the Initiative can be seen as being seperate entity from the Foundation.

So, could there someone on the island, not working for the Initiative, perhaps a certain female, that is working directy for the Foundation itself ?

Welcome to the forums, Suzumiya! :)
I'll comment on some of the things you mentioned....

1. Just what was Cindy's relationship with Gary Troup, and does it ever factor in her appearances throughout the show ?

The lines between fiction and reality were thoroughly blurred in TLE because TPTB had no idea how to do an ARG. Basically, they were scared to come out and say that playing TLE would give you an additional insight into the show. They just had to pull the "oh, the Hanso Foundation is real, and so is Rachel Blake" and none of that makes sense. In my puny human head that is. :p

So seeing as "Gary Troup" is a "real" person, the "Cindy" in the show is just modeled by the writers of Lost based off the "real Cindy"......if that makes any sense. :p

2. Has there been any indication of the in-show time that Lost would end with ?
None that I'm aware of.

3. This one's a production question, but, have any of the actors and actresses involved in the Experience, from Jamie Silberhartz to Ian Patrick Williams been signed on for the show itself ?
I don't go into the Spoiler forum at all, but I have my man Brian with his ears to the wall to let me know if Ian Patrick Williams is gonna appear. :D

But this is another example of the TLE was "real" and LOST is "fiction". They technically don't have to cast Ian Williams as ALVAR because the Alvar we saw in TLE was the "real life Alvar". Though I would hope that IF Alvar makes an appearance on the show, that Ian Williams would portray him. ;)

Just to end off... I personally do not think Alvar was on the island. Alright, maybe I'm wrong, and truffula could be very, very right (and I think that there is a high possibility that he may have went to the island)
*gasp!* you've figured me out!! Would you like to save the world? ;) :D

I don't think Mittelwerk's imprisonment of Alvar is gonna play into the show. In TLE they portrayed Alvar Hanso as a genuine compassionate person, but I think if we see him on the show, we'll see he's the exact opposite.

Well, considering that TLE was a very ambitious effort, and there were many loopholes here and there, it was a sad thing. And I guess where you're coming from; DJ Dan treated the show Lost as a 'seemingly fictional narrative', whereas the whole Experience was 'real'. Kinda mind-bogglign perhaps, but perhaps it was their way of trying to differentiate the show from the experience (which is a sad thing)

:P I'm currently the member of the S.O.S. Brigade, Sekai wo Ooini moriagerutame no Suzumiya Haruhi no Dan (http://www.haruhi.tv/). But that's another story.

In TLE they portrayed Alvar Hanso as a genuine compassionate person, but I think if we see him on the show, we'll see he's the exact opposite.

I doubt that, but on the basis that Alvar Hanso started the Initiative purely to solve the Valenzetti Equation problem. Siding with the Others doesn't seem to be the solution to the problem, if anything, it only bought time for those in the Initiative (as Roger Linus did), and, as you know, Roger was killed. I sure would love to know who was that bearded man in the last episode, and if Hanso does turn up, well... I hope ihe doesn't turn out bad.

After all, one of the central themes was the whole aspect of what is good, and what is abd. Even the Others aren't so abd from some perspective (though I repeat, some)

I think that statement "she was a member of the Hanso Foundation" as shown on THF's website was supposed to refer to Rachel Blake's mother. We never got any definitive proof, but we do have this response from Javi's Q&A: link (http://hansofoundation.livejournal.com/2236.html?thread=46268#t46268)

Q: Who was Rachel's mother and how/why did she die?
A: she was an employee of the foundation - the circumstance of her death are shrouded in secrecy, however.

If I'm posting in the wrong place please direct me to the correct area.

Doesn't Oceanic Airlines; In Through The Looking Glass prove Hanso Foundation is still in control?
The old jeep that Jack is driving- It seems I saw an advertisement from TLE with it in there.

Cindy was Gary's girlfriend from what I gathered during the TLE and Bad Twin. TLE was in real time, Lost (the show) is in 2004, maybe by now it's 2005 on on the island. TLE revealed the first Dharma video with Alvar in all his glory, mentioned his granpappy Magnus and his ship the Black Rock, and the fact that only a few knew the islands location but many were trying to find that out. That the Dharma Intitiative was an abysmal failure and a twisted ponytailed Doctor of ill repute was going to save the world in a way that only the Illuminati guys would approve of, but his heart was in the right place (syke). Check out spin offs for all the details, the laughter, the heartache and Truf's crush on Rachel Blake.
Isis, Jeep was one of the sponsors of TLE.
