of Claire when she was sleeping.
I could have sworn I saw Locke doing the attack but I deleted my Tivo of the show. Can someone look and see?

The Attack on Claire.
The hand appeared to be a man's left hand, 30-50's with some kind of brown/tan band on it. I could not tell through the episode if Ethan has anything on his wrists, but Locke does have a dark brown band on his left wrist. The flashing silver object waved in front of Claire and over her belly looked like a lockback knife with a serrated top edge. Locke has been seen with that style of knife. Don't think it is Locke though, or maybe it was and he killed a spider (insert other critter if you think spider is lame) that was on Claire but didn't say anything 'cause of Claire's reaction.
I did a freeze-frame, then frame advance. I, too, noticed the band on the left wrist, then noticed a lot of the characters are wearing bands (why?), on left and right wrists. There's also a VERY clear image of that silver tool in the frame. Can anyone do a screen cap and see if it can be identified? It was very detailed and easy to see.

I reviewed frame by frame the "attack" scene. Frankly the hand that covers her mouth could be anyones, even though it does have some kind of a band on the wrist. You can see one barbershop type blade and another strange wavy looking metalic type blade too.
I think its pretty obvious no one attacked Claire. She was having nightmares previously and this time was no different.
IMO, Claire is having these nightmares because she is intuititively detecting bad vibes and danger for her baby.
Or is it the baby sending Claire the vibes that it may be in trouble?

I completely agree. No matter how many times I watch it, I always notice one thing: right before the attack starts, the camera shot jumps. It's an obvious cut. Both shots show Claire sleeping, but the angle jumps slightly. This technique is used often in TV and film to signal a jump to a dream or a different state of mind or whatever the case may be.
Granted, they could've used the technique solely to throw us off, but I really don't think anyone actually attacked her.
Yeah I noticed that jump also when I first saw it and knew it was a dream.
i really got the feeling that they want us to think its locke but wouldnt that just be too easy. the hand was definetly locke-esque though.
It was a dream of course, so don't think about it. She dreamed of Locke earlier so it explains everything.

Here is the definite proof Claire was dreaming.
When Claire has her first dream she is wearing a white pullover sweater.
On the island and while she is sleeping she is wearing a black shirt. Just when she is being attacked there is jump cut and she is back to her pullover white sweater. When she awakens screaming she is with her usual black shirt again.

but couldn't she be incorporating things happening in reality, into her dream?
I know that I have sometimes incorporated my alarm into the dream and woken up late :D so I don't find difficult to believe that Claire could be subconsciously aware of the danger near her. The details can be fuzzy, but something / someone could have indeed been in the process of grabbing her or harming her in some way.
(I think I posted something quite similar to this elsewhere - apologies if it qualifies as cross-posting)
