They have the same basic facial features. (ie. high forehead, bags under the eyes, protruding chin...ect.) And they're stories are eririly similar. I know I'm new on this board and I didn't know anything about Alvar until I researched him a few hours ago. But from what I know he was being "held captive" by the man he trained to be his sucessor. To me that sound like the relationship between Jacob and Ben. Jacob is being "held captive" (by the ashes) and it seems as if it's by Ben, who still submits (in a way) to Jacob's authority, indicating Jacob's power over him. Am I crazy here? Could Jacob and Alvar Hanso be the same person?

Oh, and pictures...

:welcome: Mrs_Tuttle! First a few tips, You probably need to add that there is TLE stuff in your title for folks who don't want to combine that with the show as far as ideas go. There are a couple of spots this idea has been mentioned, so you are not alone. Personally, regarding your info in the post, I don't think so. However, folks who do think so, probably would like to see that play out to be fact :).

It cant be Alvar BECAUSE of the TLE and the timeline. It could be his granpappy Magnus.

Funny, I just brought up Hanso in Wikipedia and the first thing I thought of was, "That's Jacob!" Then I go on here to see if anyone else thought so and I see these posts. There's as much of a chance (if not better) that Jacob turns out to be Hanso as there is of Jacob turning out to be Locke or Ben. Or one of their ancestors.

During the May 9th episode we meet "Jacob" the invisible man. That's right, he is invisible and I was just as disappointed as you were :). Yet Jacob is actually visible for a moment! It isn't noticable at first becuase it all happens so fast, but here is the link to youtube where it is slowed down and clearly visible: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xd451PiCCJE&mode=related&search=
And another version:

Now check this out--it is Jacob's profile:

Does he look familiar to anyone else? I think he looks like Alvar Hanso. Go to www.thehansofoundation.org to see a picture of Alvar Hanso. If you pause the last video, the one of his face and go to the Hanso site you can compare their faces. They look exactly alike! On the statement on the Hanso site you will find the word "humanity"--click on it. There will be a flash and someone will start talking. The screen will look blank, but when you look at your moniter from a different angle it will reveal a man--a seemingly invisible man. If you can, tilt your moniter back or kneel down and look up at it to see the video of the man. It looks as if bacteria or viruses are flying over his face and he is speaking of a disease. Is Jacob really Alvar Hanso? Could the disease be the cause of his invisiblity? Is that why he needs help? I definitely think it is a possibility and there are just too many parallels to be ignored. I mean, they look alike and the website makes his "invisible" Any comments?
