Is the island artificial?
I was just thinking that as Locke and Boone was digging.
Unless we find out next January that it's just some metal.

I think the piece of metal is part of an airplane. Maybe many planes have crashed on the island.

a while ago i had a theory that someone controlls the island... or someone on the magical island discovered its magic and is controlling it (my thoughts alex).... anyways i think the controller of the island is like from that short story "THE most dangerous game" where there is this island and this hunter who created a way of wrecking ships so that humans would land on his island, then he would hunt them... cause they were the most dangerous game... i dont think lost follows this exactly, but i think that the part of purposly wrecking things on the island is... obviously lost has its own plot... aka ethan&claire...(they want the claire... or the baby?...mmm)

Here's what I think and it's pretty close to what you just said. I think the whole island is a multiple crash site, and if you remembered the phsycic wanted Claire to be on this island. Now I;m assuming he saw the outcome of this event... so Claire could either be the island resolver or the problem causer... watch for clues in the next few weeks!

im gonna watch them over and over and write down everything... CLUES!... at least now we know they put clues in the episodes and it wasnt people just makin things up....
