LOST music index
This thread is an archived collection of music related threads for LOST. It contains quick question posts on who sang what in what episode. It also has theories dealing with background music and any topics associated with the compostions or soundtrack. It will be updated biweekly with the pertinent information.
This thread will also include a mini-index of season 1, season 2, and season 3 music as well as links to websites and/or soundbytes depending on how easy things roll by. If you have any questions, add-ons, or ideas, please let me know. This is a working process. I will be leaving out music fan fare and any thread that is a duplicate but only got minimal postings. Also, if any new posts come through here and need to be merged into one of the indexed threads, they may be accordingly done.
Thank you.

P.S. I am leaving Master Xander's original post in parenthesis as to show what this thread intended.
Thanks.
[Alright! Discuss anything and everything about the music of the show here. Feel free to discuss the musical score, the songs and music used in the previews, the songs used for Hurley's Magical Music Montages, and even the songs that the titles of the episodes reference.
You can also suggest songs they can use for Hurley's Magical Music Montages here.]

Oooh nice thread!
Two things:
1. Michael Giaccamo's music for The Incredibles was GREAT. I actually forgot it was him until I was watching the credits, and throughout the whole movie I was thinking about how much the music rocked. So... cool.
And 2. Elliott Smith - Let's Get Lost would be GREAT for a magical Hurley montage. It's a lovely song.

Appears the producers did a rendition though. I downloaded the song off WinMX and it sounded totally different from how it was sung in "Confidence Man": diffferent voice and everything. Have to say the LOST version sounded better.

Hmmm. Thanks for the information on that, Hugo. I actually didn't come up with the source of the song, someone else did a search on the lyrics and posted it in the episode's discussion thread. I wonder where they got the version they used for the show...

OK, according to ABC's website, the version we heard was by a group called The Blind Boys of Alabama.

There's a song "Confidence Man" by the Jeff Healey Band that would be perfect for a Sawyer video. It's on the album "See The Light", and it's about ten years old. Rockin' blues.

Ben Harper did that song featuring The Blind Boys of Alabama.
At the end of Episode 5 (White Rabbit), the final scene is of everything at night on the beach in front of the fire. The camera flips from person to person, and in the background is there some beautiful piano music.
Does anyone know what music / track / artist it is? And where might I get it?

Is there anywhere you can download the music from Lost? I really want the music from the end of the last episode "Do No Harm". It was awesome music!! Anyone know of any sites?
Thanks in advance,
John
:)
The music used at the end of Do No Harm was composed specially just for LOST, I don't think there is any way you can download or buy it.
But you can get other songs that have been used on the show...check this site for a list of songs that have been used.

Any chance of stickying a thread here relating to music. Seems to be a rather popular question.
Michael Giacchino is the composer for the "soundtrack" portion. He does the tracks for Alias, The Incredibles and a few videogames. You can find stuff by him by Googling. However, Lost tracks don't seem to readily available for download.
KF2's link gives you the other songs.
Here is an .mp3 with the song from the end of episode 20.

I've made an MP3 of the song from the end of Do No Harm. Since there isn't any talking over the music it's relatively easy to record. The only thing you can kind of notice is some sounds of Jack holding back tears at the end. I'd really love to get the music from Walkabout and Dues Ex Machina, but that has people talking over it.
I would host it on my server but I don't want to risk having it be taken down by lots of people downloading the file. If anyone has some place they could host it from, let me know.

It is the same piece of music playing at the end of White Rabbit, you're right. Someone earlier asked if it was My Immortal by Evanescence and I told them I didn't think it was because it was also used in another episode, White Rabbit was the one.
Ferret Dragon
04-11-05, 06:17 PM
I just listened to the music from the ep's in question and My Immortal. Definately different music.
Thematically and technically similar (simple harmony with sustained notes on a piano which is melodically running "chords", or close to them, some rythmic themes are also similar). They both are meant to convey a similar emotion which explains their similarity. It's the musical equivalent of comparing the similarities between the Disney princess movies. "Princess in the making who falls in love with a rascal or prince but loses him only to get him in the end for happily ever after." The same in the "big" plot picture, but when you look at the nuts and bolts of, say, Alladin vs. Beauty and the Beast vs. Little Mermaid bunch o technical differences.
Bah... I'm long winded, rambly and may not be making much sense. Essentially, you have to let your ear be used to listening to that sorta "piano work", else you can fall into the trap of, for example, "All X-type of music is the same".

In regards to your question, the song I think you are talking about played at the end of Episode 6, "House of the Rising Sun." But technically it does not play att he end of the show all the time, just for that episode. And yes, it is "Are you Sure" by Willie Nelson.
Now that the question has been answered, I'm going to close this thread now.

It was a song written in 1970 and sung by the Mamas and the Papas. I think it was also re-done by the Carpenters later (not sure which version we hear on Desmond's record). It also was the title of TV show in the '70s. Here are the lyrics to the song. Read them and see if you notice anything significant.
Nobody can tell ya;
There's only one song worth singin',
They may try and sell ya,
'Cause it hangs them up to see someone like you.
But you've gotta make your own music
Sing your own special song,
Make your own kind of music even if nobody else sings along.
You're gonna be knowing
The loneliest kind of lonely,
It may be rough goin',
Just to do your thing's the hardest thing to do.
But you've gotta make your own music
Sing your own special song,
Make your own kind of music even if nobody else sings along.
So if you cannot take my hand,
And if you must be goin',
I will understand.
But you've gotta make your own music
Sing your own special song,
Make your own kind of music even if nobody else sings along.

Hi- it was the Mamas and Papas version- and I think the whole meaning is a counter-culture anti-establishment thing. Desmond's all by himself trying to create his own little Utopia or livable environment and eventually all the survivors will too. But whose "song" or "beat" will they play along to?

Hello fellow LOST fans,
The song was not recorded by the Mamas and the Papas...it is a solo "Mama Cass Elliot" record. How am I so sure? Cass was my mother.
Imagine my surprise, as I tune into the highly anticipated season premiere of my fave show, and my mom's song is in that first scene! What a cool thing..

Welcome to Lost-Tv, Owen67.
It is a pleasure to "meet" one of my favorite artist's daughter. Your mom had a wonderful and unique voice. Her music has entertained me for years.
Do you happen to know what album Desmond played?
Max Power 79

I think this song alludes to Desmond being alone for all these years and now he wants some company - plus he's gone crazy from not having any human contact.
ExaltedSin50
09-25-05, 06:14 PM
My interpretation of the use of this song is that Hatch Boy is all alone (at least, as of recent) and he basically has to "Make his own kind of music".
This basically means that since he's all alone, he has to create things for him to do and just use what he can.
There really isn't anything DEEP in the lyrics, it's just a subtle joke added by the creators of the show, I'm sure.
You're gonna be knowing

It may be rough goin',
Just to do your thing's the hardest thing to do.
But you've gotta make your own music
Sing your own special song,
Make your own kind of music even if nobody else sings al
The evidence to support my theory is in the song. :p

I think the song is a mantra for Desi. Keeps him uplifted in the lonliness and reminds him of his sense of purpose - his mission - his dharma. In other words, keeps him focused and on track.
On another level, Kate says a line "live together, die alone". A line from the book The Stand. There is a connection between the two.

Does the estate of Cass Elliot have any rights to the song?

On the topic of music:
I read this on the Desmond character thread
Someone posted words from the Beatles song oblali oblade la la how the life goes on (no idea how to spell that)
"Desmond has a barrow in the market place "
I think there might be a tie in the " how the life goes on"
Might have something to do with the naming of the character , Desmond.

I think I will go out and buy a cd with that song on it.
Can you suggest the best CD to get?
LostBoy- Issues of licensing songs fall to the controlling record company/owner of master recordings. In this case, that would be Universal Music. Artists are rarely consulted.

One can obtain the song, "Make Your Own Kind of Music" in many ways. You can use iTunes, if you have that option, or the song appears on many of my mother's compilation CD's. Please visit my mother's website at casselliot.com, for more info, if you desire.

Owen, I remember when you were born, I was/am a real fan of Mama Cass. "Words of Love" was one of my favs. after "Make Your Own Kind of Music."
I really believe the song is yet another cryptic clue for the audience to figure out. But for whatever reason it's great to hear it again.
Boy did it bring back fond memories of a time long gone!
(Edited because I can't spell worth a darn)
someone pointed out it may be a clue for us, to just keep making our own theories and such..

Cass Elliott had such a beautiful voice. One of my favorites is “Dream a Little Dream of Me.” And, with the Mamas and the Papas, “Words Of Love."
Thanks for taking part in the forum, Owen!

The song is called MAKE YOUR OWN KIND OF MUSIC and was sung by Mama Cass (Eliot) of The Mamas and The Papas. Cass Eliot's recordings were also heavily featured in the Film BEAUTIFUL THING.
I believe you'll be able to find it at the itunes store.

If you use iTunes do a search for <Mama Cass Elliot Make Your Own> (Sorry, spelled Elliot incorrectly in my first post) there are several sources for the the track MAKE YOUR OWN KIND OF MUSIC
This was one of the songs she recorded after The Mamas & The Papas broke up, so it won't appear on any M&P albums
If you can't find it let me know. I've got the soundtrack to Beautiful Thing and it appears on that cd. I'll make sure you get a copy.

This has been driving me crazy for ages now. Does anyone know the music that plays occasionally in the show. It's been played a few times (i'm only up to about episode 12ish) and it's a remake of a famous classical piece. Apologies for being vague...hence i'm having so much trouble finding out what the track is.

I'd have to say the piece that accompanied the launching of the raft at the end of Exodus I. It had a beautiful melody that played all through the good-byes and then just soared when the raft was put to sea. The visuals were stunning, and the music matched it perfectly.

This music is used alot, but i really enjoyed the music they used when we showed everybody getting onto the plane. This was my favorite! they use it in alot of episodes, but i thought it worked the best during the last five minutes of the first season finale. It just felt so right ... although i do wish they had ended the first season with jack looking at locke in his seat on the airplane instead of them looking into the hatch with that dorky music ... i think that would have been more fitting.

Michael Giacchino's music for LOST is so good in so many places I can't just narrow it down to one.
Already mentioned was the Raft Launch, and the music from the end of Do No Harm (which are right at the top of my list also).
I liked the Climbing music from S1E2 as they hike up to boost the tranciever signal; we heard this again in S2 (I think it was in 48 Days)
And when Hurley handed out the food/Sun buries the bottle/we meet Bernard - priceless.
There are so many more that I can't think of off the top of my head, but I will certainly add them as they come to me.
Peace,

I particularly liked the hectic music playing after the abrupt end to the "Make your own kind of music" sequence (also very well done) at the opening of Man of Science, Man of Faith. I'm also a fan of the score at the end of Do No Harm, I bought the episode off iTunes just for the last five minutes. I seem to remember some great music at the end of a season one episode, where the last shot is Locke laying on top of the hatch as a light comes on.

Yes, Norman, the "Hatch Light" score is another one of my faves too!!
Made me think back on S1 a little more.
The music that revealed the Black Rock was amazing.
And then also a recurring theme that I remember most recently from "48 Days" right at the beginning when Ana washes ashore and looks around (very much like the shots of Jack in S1E1) that defines the themes of the show so well in music.
Just breathtaking.

I agree with truffula that Giacchino's scores are so splendid in so many places that it's hard to come up with just one and rest on it.
The swelling, triumphant score at the end of 'Walkabout' always comes to mind. That scene meshes so well with the visuals, too.
I also like the light, whimsical sound of Hurley's flashback theme. It's like a breather from the heavyhanded stuff.

The music from this show helps give it the flow that we've come to love.
I agree with NFBates. When the hatch lid was blown open, and Desmond's record skips, until we see "our heroes" at the top looking down. That simple piece of music on the piano, those 5 keys over and over again was the most intense and compelling piece of music put to video since the theme from JAWS. It reminded me of the opening of Tales of the Crypt. John Williams and Danny Elfman FINALLY have some competition.

That was some thrilling music, but I watched something this weekend that might qualify, too. It was on Showtime's Masters of Horror series. This week is John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns, and his son, Cody Carpenter, did the score. It is as creepy and unnerving as his father's original Halloween score. Good, good stuff. The episode wasn't bad, either.

No need to be sorry. Carpenter's Halloween theme is classic! My jaw dropped when I heard he himself composed that. My cousin tivo's all the Masters of Horror. I'll have to check that one out. The music heard from when Desmond's record skips to when we see Locke and Jack looking down the Hatch was also AMAZING.
Giacchino's use of clusters to create tension is so well placed in this scene.
Yeah, Billy, I rank Michael Giacchino right up there with John Williams and Danny Elfman. And I would add Howard Shore to that list too. (not to threadjack) His music in the Lord of the Rings trilogy was inspirational to say the least.

i cant remember what episode it was but i remember the melody clearly, it was played in the last 5 minutes, the sky was dark, the camera pans round and fades out and in to different characters. the melody that was being used was slow' almost romantic sounding! the strings just sort of flowed in and out and it was beautiful! wish i could remember what episode it was!

The piece that several people have referred to (from the end of "Do No Harm" and when Jack discovers the water in "White Rabbit") is called "Life Taken, Life Given." The theme has recurred in several scenes with different orchestrations (in WR it was electronic keyboard and brass; in DNH it was acoustic solo piano). Elements of the same theme have appeared in S2--when Claire finds the message bottle on the beach.
I recently read somewhere (maybe here on LOST-TV!) that Michael Giacchino is the only composer currently writing for a weekly series who uses a full live orchestra (that is, musicians playing instead of mixing it on machines in a studio).
I think Michael Giacchino's music is more like James Horner's ("Titanic") than John Williams. In my professional opinion (Bachelor of Music and several years teaching and performing), Williams' music is grandiose, while Giacchino and Horner's music is more introspective (not that Giacchino doesn't sweep us away...I'm having trouble finding the right words).
I just wish the LOST soundtrack would materialize, so we would have names for all these great themes!
The music during the picnic in Everybody Hates Hugo and also during the raft launching.
In the end, all the music is so beautiful that anytime there is an extended listening period is usually one of the times I will rewind the DVR and listen/watch that scene over and over again.

Sorry Billy, I just noticed your response, BOYYYYYYY.
Angus is great, but I didn't see 'The Off Season.' I understand he had a recurring role on Alias, giving us a slight LOST connection.
The Coscarelli episode of MOH was quite good. I might be biased because it was structured just like an episode of LOST. Mr. Scrimm was wacky in it, but I thought the Villain himself, Moonface, was a little over the top in the design of the character.

she says that she wants them to sing it to her baby because her mother sang it to her.

Perry Como was famous for singing that song. Claire, before she bailed out on them, asked the potential adoptive parents of her baby if they would sing that song to the baby for her, becuase Claire's father (thanks clayseason1) sang it to her.
Lyrics:
Catch a falling star an’ put it in your pocket,
Never let it fade away!
Catch a falling star an’ put it in your pocket,
Save it for a rainy day!
For love may come an' tap you on the shoulder,
Some star-less night!
Just in case you feel you wanna’ hold her,
You’ll have a pocketful of starlight!
Catch a falling star an’ ( Catch a falling . . . ) put it in your pocket,
Never let it fade away! ( Never let it fade away! )
Catch a falling star an’ ( Catch a falling . . . ) put it in your pocket,
Save it for a rainy day! ( Save it for a rainy day! )
For love may come and tap you on the shoulder,
Some star-less night!
An’ just in case you feel you wanta’ hold her,
You’ll have a pocketful of starlight!
( . . . pocketful of starlight! ) [ hum in time ]
Catch a falling star an’ ( Catch a falling . . . ) put it in your pocket,
Never let it fade away! ( Never let it fade away! )
Catch a falling star an’ ( Catch a falling . . . ) put it in your pocket,
Save it for a rainy day! ( Save it for a rainy . . . Save it for a rainy, rainy rainy day! )
For when your troubles startn’ multiplyin’,
An' they just might!
It’s easy to forget them without tryin’,
With just a pocketful of starlight!

I dont know if this is what you are asking, but the song that was playing when Ethan was poking Clare in the medical bunker is called "The Girl From Iponema". It was a common elevator song of the 60's I think.

I don't remember what was playing during Claire's exam. But the music on the beach was one of those 1940's Big Band Era songs. Something by Glen Miller, I think. Anyone else (who hasn't erased the recording from their Tivo *sigh*) notice if there was music playing during Claire's exam?

I'm a little confused by your question. Are you talking about the music playing in the exam room, or the music from crib's mobile in the nursery?
If your talking about the exam room, the only song that I recognized from that scene was a musac (elevator music) version "The Girl From Ipanema", which isn't exactly 40's swing music.
And, of course, the music from the mobile was "Catch a Falling Star" which was relevant because that's the song that Claire asked the couple who was going to adopt her child to sing back in "Raised by Another" from season 1.
I have a song that has not, to my knowledge, actually been played on air, but I always thought it was freakishly close to an Ode to Jack. All you Radiohead fans might agree. "Lucky" off the OK Computer album. Freaky music, lyrics I love. Enjoy:
I'm on a roll,
I'm on a roll this time
I feel my luck could change.
Kill me Sarah,
kill me again with love,
it's gonna be a glorious day.
Pull me out of the aircrash,
Pull me out of the lake,
'cause i'm your superhero,
we are standing on the edge.
The head of state has called for me by name
but I don't have time for him.
It's gonna be a glorious day!
I feel my luck could change.
Pull me out of the aircrash,
Pull me out of the lake,
'cause i'm your superhero,
we are standing on the edge.

Great find thanks! But is it a Giacchino track? That title "life taken, life given" is not on the soundtrack disks.

The song that Charlie and Hurley (?) pick up on the radio on the beach is Moonlight Seranade, by Gelnn Miller. Beautiful, I reccomend downloading it, or add me on msn to discuss big band and jazz! :)
Good pickup on Glenn Millers Moonlight Serenade....... and likely quite intentional. Glenn Miller was an airforce major who dissapeared on plane flight in 1944 NEVER TO BE FOUND again,,,,, no knowledge of exactly what happened to him

I searched, but could not find a similar post; my apologies if this has already been approached.
Have you ever been listening to something from your own music collection that made you either think of Lost or think, "Hey...this should be playing underneath some really incredible Lost montage"? I discovered one such song while listening to some CDs I hadn't heard in a long time.
My bit of Fantasy Lost music is posted below (the lyrics, anyway). Please feel free to add your own.
A Stroke of Luck by Garbage
Hanging by threads of palest silver
I could have stayed that way forever
Bad blood and ghosts wrapped tight around me
Nothing could ever seem to touch me
I lose what I love most
Did you know I was lost until you found me?
A stroke of luck or a gift from god?
The hate of fate or devil's claws?
From below or saints above
You came to me
Here comes the cold again
I feel it closing in
It's falling down and
All around me falling
You say that you'll be there to catch me
Or will you only try to trap me
These are the rules I make
Our chains were meant to break
You'll never change me
Here comes the cold again
I feel it closing in
You're falling down and
All around me falling
Stroke of luck or a gift from god?
Hand of fate or devil's claws?
From below or saints above
You come to me now
Don't ask me why
Don't even try
A stroke of luck or a gift from god?
The hand of fate or devil's claws?
From below or saints above
You came to me
Here comes the cold again
I feel it closing in
It's falling down and
All around me falling

After most of this season's music has been a re-hash of the previous 2 seasons' music, this episode featured a new theme towards the end. I thought it was beautiful, and hopefully this will be the Season 3 Theme. Good to see some good music being played over a slo-mo character montage.

I found it amusing that Sawyer was singing 'Show me the way to go home' (or whatever the official name of it is).
Same song is in "Jaws" (this time by a trio of drunken shark hunters)...which reminded me of Sawyer's little shark episode.

The soundtracks for seasons 1 and 2 are awesome. I play the keyboard by ear and I've learned how to play some songs from those cds. I have a video on Youtube of me playing part of "Parting Words" if anyone's interested. The sound and video aren't in synch, but it doesn't ruin the video.

I'm pretty sure, but isnt the music Jack's playing on the piano the same music from his theme from season 3? It plays in Tale of Two Cities when Juliet is talking about Sara, a little in Stranger in a strange land, and even in this Episode " Man from Tallahassee", when he's talking to Kate. Anyone know where to get the sheet music?

The Glass Bead Game is a book written by nobel prize winning author, Herman Hesse. The book has tremendous correlation between music and time or rather timelessness and interconectedness or all times. It is a huge book and very deep. It is a culmination of many books that Hesse had written. Most of his works have elements of the Eastern philosophies of Hinduism, Buddhism and lots of Jungian psychology all intermingled with a quality of timelessness. In the Glass Bead Game in particular music is a crucial and key element.
This brings us to a correlation on Lost between Time or Timelessness and Music....perhaps the music of the universe. This also brings us towards quantum mechanics...I stop there because I am getting in over my head.
Love to hear everyones thoughts though...

9mile, I think you might be on to something there. (TPTB might have had it taken down). That was the coolest site I've seen created for Lost music anywhere on the web. I guess it was your link from back several months ago that led me to it (I can't remember) but the pics that were in the background behind the lyrics was a real nice touch. You could start it and it would play staight on through all the songs that have ever appeared on Lost. Legal rights must have played a part in the closing of that site (my guess as well)
Oh well maybe somebody else will make something as nice.

I'd just like to say I liked the music that played when Locke entered the submarine. Can anyone tell me if it's appeared on a soundtrack or anything?
The music that was playing as Locke approached the submarine is a variation of Locke's theme music by Michael Giacchino (http://www.michaelgiacchino.com/). Once Locke entered the submarine, there was a piece playing, also done by Michael Giacchino, titled (appropriately enough) "U-Boat" which he wrote for the first person shooter video game Medal Of Honor.

I thought I, or someone, posted it here in this thread. I answered (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1432829&postcount=971) in the Quick Question thread. Michael Giacchino wrote the piece just for that scene. I don't know it's official title, but you can contact him through his site (http://www.michaelgiacchino.com/) and he'll most likely answer you.

Yes, and it obviously means a great deal to her. Juliet probably has good times associated with the song, and it brings back good memories. Maybe even holds her together during trying times, so to speak.
All in all, it looks as if the good times associated with the song are also associated with Rachel.

Lux Aeterna or Requiem for a Tower
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clint_Mansell
Mansell's score for π was followed up by his score for Aronofsky's next film, Requiem for a Dream, and the score became a cult hit. The trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers contained a reworked version of the track "Lux Aeterna," utilizing a full orchestra and choir. The piece, named "Requiem for a Tower", was made just for the trailer. The orchestration was arranged by Simone Benyacar, Dan Nielsen, and Veigar Margeirsson.
"Lux Aeterna" has since become extremely popular, with both the original and the orchestration having appeared in a wide variety of commercials and trailers, including trailers for the films Zathura, The Da Vinci Code, Lost and Sunshine.

No copies here but here is a break down of Season 2's music from the soundtrack. Track 25 is Bon Voyage, Traitor. That is what you are looking for.
1. Main Title - Same as Always
2. Peace Through Superior Firepower - Desmond rushing to the ready upon hearing the explosion at the hatch. Action Track.
3. Final Countdown - The end of "Orientation," begins with Locke taking his 'leap of faith' with Helen (a subtle rendition of the classic Locke theme) and proceeds to Locke convincing Jack to press the button for the first time. Suspense Track.
4. World's Worst Landscaping - Hurley and his buddy messing with lawn gnomes from "Everybody Hates Hugo" - playful action reminiscent of the "Numbers" score not included on the S1 album. Playful Action Track.
5. Mess It All Up - Hurley's emotional climax in "Everybody Hates Hugo" where we see the reporters swarm his car in flashback. Emotion Track.
6. Hurley's Handouts - Food Distribution, a new S2 uplifting theme for Hurley. Emotion Track.
7. Just Another Day on the Beach - The crash as experienced by the Tallies at the start of "The Other 48 Days" - hints of the original Lost action theme and Lost aftermath theme. Action Track.
8. Ana Cries - Anna's moment with Eko. Lost aftermath theme. Emotion Track.
9. Tribes Merge - The conclusion of "The Other 48 Days" where the past and present meet. Heavy Tribal-style drums. Action Track.
10. Gathering - The Raft Launch theme from S1, but subtler, as Sun and Jin are reunited. Emotion Track.
11. Shannon's Funeral - Lost Aftermath theme. Emotion Track.
12. All's Forgiven... Except Charlie - Eko and Charlie pray at the conclusion of "The 23rd Psalm." Wonderful new theme for Eko, also used in "Fire + Water" for Aaron's baptism (not on album). Emotion Track.
13. Charlie's Dream - Trippy Piano-filled sequence. Suspense Track.
14. Charlie's Temptation - Way-too-brief rendition of Charlie's addiction theme from S1, but at least we finally have it (wasn't included on S1 album). Brooding Track.
15. New Trade - Sayid's theme from "One of Them" - Another S1 theme that was missing from the S1 album. I loved the more `ethnic' renditions in "Solitary," but, again, at least we finally have it! Emotion Track.
16. Mapquest - mislabeled in the CD insert, this is actually from "Lockedown" and is a brief dharma-style mystery piece. Brooding Track.
17. Claire's Escape - also mislabeled in the CD insert, THIS is the track from "Maternity Leave." Kinda hectic and cluttered, but classic Lost frenzy. Action Track.
18. Last to Know - New S2 Theme for Sun and Jin, this version from "The Whole Truth" when Jin and Sun are in the garden. Emotion Track.
19. Rose and Bernard - New S2 Theme for Rose and Bernard, I believe it's the conclusion of the episode. Beautiful, beautiful theme. Emotion Track.
20. Toxic Avenger - The rest are all from the S2 finale, "Live Together, Die Alone." This is when Kelvin drags Desmond off the beach. Trippy. Suspense Track.
21. I Crashed Your Plane, Brotha - Desmond's revelation. Suspense Track.
22. Eko Blaster - Kaboom. Action Track.
23. The Hunt - Our heroes on the run. Action Track.
24. McGale's Navy - New S2 Theme for the Others, Henry appears on the dock. Suspense Track.
25. Bon Voyage, Traitor - The end of the finale from Charlie's reappearance at the beach to the sacks being put over Jack, Kate, and Sawyers heads. A very nice theme unique the conclusion of this episode appears twice here. It is also used in the episode when Desmond turns the key, remembering Penny's letter. Emotion/Suspense Track.
26. End Title - From all episodes, this was missing from the S1 album. Action Track.

"Lux Aeterna".
i know i might be losing my mind.... but ever since last episode i can't stop playing this song and going into some kind of trance about the episode and ben.
the song is by "deerhunter" called "fluorescent Grey"
the chorus basically says "patiently, patiently"
which keeps going back to the whole patience thing with ben in the episode.....
and the song is talking about a dead corpse turning fluorescent grey or something.
and the voice even sounds a bit like ben.
haha i am not saying there is any connection but it for me there is..... i can't stop playing it over and over and thinking of ben.
it's like him talking about him and his father it's f'n creepy.

Does anybody have any idea when Lost Season 3 Soundtrack will come out?
When did Season 1 Come Out? Season 2 Come Out?
The S1 sountrack was released March 21, 2006. The S2 soundtrack was released November 21, 2006. I haven't seen any info about the S3 soundtrack yet.

Wow that's pretty close together. Just a guess I would think it might drop somewhere in the Fall

If you re-watch the Pilot Part 2, you can clearly hear the Éxpose theme (or Nikki/Paulo theme) when Shannon looks up at the island mountains. Just thought that was cool for Michael G. to reuse that theme.

LOST music friends,
I get a lot of requests for my piano transcription of this main theme (the slow beautiful one that goes back to S1; I believe we first heard it in "White Rabbit" when Jack discovered the caves). I'm always happy to send it to whomever wants it, but I'm thinking it would be so much easier if I could make it available somewhere that would be easy for folks to get. If anyone has suggestions and can walk me through anything technical, I would appreciate it! There are friends who PMd me who are waiting for it right now; I promise I WILL get it to you even if there isn't a "public" place for it.
I have it saved as a .jpg if that makes a difference...THANKS!

I never pegged Jack as a Nirvana guy.
