I found this about the scheduling at Beemans Blog:

The last episode of season 1 (Episode 23 “HOW TO STOP AN EXPLODING MAN”) wrapped shooting on last April 25, and aired on May 21st. Before that one was even finished shooting, our executive producers, Tim Kring and Dennis Hammer and Allan Arkush, were clear that we needed to come back strong in the second season – that we needed to give the fans more episodes, more episodes in a row without breaks, and shorter time between breaks.

As a group, we all set upon the daunting task of producing 24 original episodes in season 2. We will come back on September 24 – run 11 episodes in a row, take only 4 weeks off, run 7 in a row, take only 3 weeks off and then finish the season with a final run of 6 episodes.
And, on top of all that, when HEROES ends, Tim is going to give the fans 6 episodes of a new original series HEROES ORIGINS

I'm gonna slide this on over to our new HEROES SPOILERS forum as future episode titles could be spoilery. :)

I know those first two titles are confirmed, though I don't know about the other two.

And I REALLY like the scheduling for this season. 11 weeks in a row to kick things off. NICE!!! :blinkie:
BRING IT ON!!! :hyper:

2 DAYS TO GO!!!!!! :woot3:

Wow, great schedule this season. Minimal break, and lots of consecutive weeks with episodes.

It would have been nice to swap to 11 and 6 week runs. Start the season with 6 straight, and end will 11 straight, but hey I can't complain. This is great news

Don't we get the spin-off during the hiatus, leaving no weeks without new Heroes? Or am I confused?

I just watched a video clip of Tim Kring on Attack of the Show where he mentions that Volume 2 will be the first 11 episodes and then moving on to Volume 3 perhaps even going into Volume 4 this season.

Don't know. I'm assuming that depends on how long the show lasts ???

Well, Season 1 was Volume 1 and I think Season 2 is supposed to be Volumes 2 and 3.

Yeah, I've heard that as well. I believe Truff said that Volume II will be the first 11 episodes of this season, then Volume III will begin at episode 12, and go through some undisclosed part of S3.

Good news: We should get a real cliffhanger at the end of S2 instead of a somewhat boring conclusion.

Bad news: I feel like Volume II is going to end up being a waste of time. Only 11 episodes to tell it in so we know it won't be super-in-depth, and the first 2 episodes haven't been spectacular. (this is, of course, my own opinion... this might not be bad news for everyone :))

Ugh - I really hope that the wonder twins' storyline doesn't drag down Sylar with them. It's taking them forever to get to the US.
