In Episode 9, Sun is clearly helping Jack tend to the sick... Even though Jin originally opposed helping out at all.
More of her standing up to him?

My bet is that she is going to play nurse to Jack's role of the doctor, she might even be more of a help cause she already proved that she is smarter than him.

Not to diss Sun or anything, but having a different set of knowledge and/or a different approach to things doesn't necessarily make one smarter than the other.
just my 2 cents worth

I agree with Aztec. I think she is resourceful, but not smarter than Jack.
To tell you the truth, I think it's too hard to determine who is the most intelligent on the island. Everyone is brilliant in their own way.
Sawyer is the best at playing one person against another.
Locke is the best survivalist.
Michael is the most talented engineer on the island.
Hurley may be the best cook (this is not to be offensive at all).
Jin may just have the best inventory of home remedies and natural medicines. And in that respect, she may become a more important person than Jack as a doctor once the medicine runs out, but I suspect that she will leak her English to the others by then and she will share her knowledge.
She's one of my three favorite characters. There's no doubt about that.

Now that we've seen more Sun since the date of the original post, I couldn't help but smile at the foreshadowing subject heading. She's certainly proved herself resourceful and quick thinking.
(sorry Az, I know this post can be almost tied in with "Sun's Coursework" but this thread was started first....)

You do get the impression that our Sun will no longer sit silently in the corner. You go girl!
