I can't think of too many mainstream foods that I won't eat. The only thing that I can think of right now is eggplant. I nearly got sick on it once as a kid, and that has stuck with me.

Of the things listed so far, I wouldn't eat tripe, but I don't really consider that a mainstream food.

While I am not as picky as some in this thread, I'm afraid I have spawned a seriously picky eater. I just have to sneak things into his food that he swears he will never eat, and not tell him. It's kind of a game for me, really. He ate mushrooms AND sour cream in the same meal this week, and loved it. He thinks I'm a great cook! Hmmm, I thought that you had to let the meat hang out for a while to "tenderize". I'm a non-hunter, I'm a gatherer (shopper) so I'm surprised that really fresh meat over a campfire is good. JD21, do people normally let their meat hang out over night? I can just see the inuendo starting up.

kinda depends on the animal, it tends to help the meat tenderize if you let it hang, but as you mentioned, only if it's cool, so either outdoors in cold weather or in a meat locker. Generally speaking, the older an animal was, and the more active they were (such as a larger male), the more generally tough the meat tends to be, and hanging the meat can help to tenderize those significantly. But fresh tenderloins seem to have better flavor, and cooking them over a campfire when their fresh is just fun. I've not generaly found them to be rubbery or anything, and the gamey flavor can sometimes be there, but I've found that's greatly impacted by the diet of the animal (elk that eat sage primarily tend to be much more gamey than those that manage to forage on a farmers grain fields).

I had no idea that's why people hang deer up.

I also helps keep the meat cool and minimizes spoiling, and keeps some of the ground critters off of it.

Green olives. They just LOOK creepy, with the green and orange thing in em.... *shudder* ew, no. And they smell horrible. I hate having to put em in martinis and stuff at work.

I love black olives though! :D
