View Full Version : Investigation Results and Map - Day Two

You should have received, or will receive shortly, your investigation results in a PM from scotpgot. After that, you will get a PM from me telling you which spaces of travel you shared with another character that day (with the exception of Paulo and anyone else who happened to be using their tails). If you were "landing" on a space while someone else was "investigating" it, I counted that as being on the same spot at the same time. Note that not all of these occurrences will end up turning into scenes, because there are just too many for that.

Once all that info is sent out, I'll come back here and update you on where everyone is sleeping.

ETA: I'm not sending you info on who you share your travel with on Step 8. You're going to see that on the map.

A couple of questions have been PM'd to us over the past day or so which probably should be answered publicly:

Morning Interrogations and tails both require being within 2 spaces of the other player. Is that 2 spaces "as the crow flies?" Meaning any 2 spaces, regardless of terrain?

Yes. When deciding whether or not to tail or interrogate, simply count the number of game-board spaces between you and that person. If you can get there within two spaces (regardless of type of terrain, presence of cliffs, etc.), you can tail/interrogate them.

Even though the questions are Host-Approved, Interrogation Scenes will take place in the Closed Set thread and played out by the actors involved, right? So we know who are interrogator is, and vice versa, right?

Yes.

And one more question that didn't get asked, but probably can stand to be clarified since I'm starting to get questions about interrogations and tails: remember that no one under the Banyan Trees at the start of the day can be tailed or interrogated. Which means that Nikki, Claire, and Sun are all safe for Day Three and cannot be "messed with."

I swear, man. After that first day, I thought you had a secret personal item: BOAT. Use of the boat allows you to travel from any shore square to any other shore square, sacrificing any investigation and other movement. I also thought Jin was at the mercy of this, which explained his disappearance.

A tail lasts all day, and eats up all your 8 actions, right?

What about an interrogation? Does that cost one of your 8 actions, or is that a once-per-game thing that doesn't count as one of your 8 daily actions?

From the rules:

2. Interrogations

Within the game, you may have opportunity to interrogate another player. An Interrogation is an opportunity to ask three questions to another player where they are forced to answer. All Interrogations are public and thus available for everyone to see. Interrogations are initiated by the use of your Bamboo Torture Sticks from your Stuff, and thus, you may only interrogate one other player once during the game.

a. When You Decide to Interrogate

Your decision to interrogate another player must be made at the time you submit your itinerary for the next day’s travel. At that time you must also announce that you are using your Interrogation Sticks, which player you choose to interrogate, and what your three questions are for that player.

b. Who May Be Interrogated

You may interrogate any player, even if they have already been interrogated by another player, as long as you are within two steps (in any direction) of them at the start of the day that the interrogation takes place. Because everyone’s sleeping locations are announced publicly at the conclusion of the day, you will know who you have the ability to interrogate, and who you don’t, before you have to make that decision. If there is someone you ultimately want to interrogate, you will want to make sure you position yourself near enough to them to get the job done.

Interrogations do not cost either party involved a space of travel, since, for our story purposes, they take place early in the morning, before the day's travel has begun. (This is true even though the actual interrogations, in real time, won't play out until after that day's travel has happened - suspend your disbelief with us, won't you?)

A Tail means you take the itinerary of whoever you're tailing, so yes, it takes your whole day. You see whatever they discover, every clue they find, and everything that happens to them, but they never know you're watching, and nobody gets to see where you end up sleeping for the night.

Interrogations do not cost you any steps of travel. In terms of the story, they take place entirely before everyone sets out on their investigations for the day.
