Only the most super-kawaii anime ever.
Okay, here I am!
Season 1 - Probably my favourite season. All the characters (except Mimi) were cool and had good development. Izzy was always awesome. Plus, the bad guys? Myotismon could quite possibly be my favourite villain out of anything ever.
Season 2 - David and Yolei were annoying. Cody was alright but sometimes too stubborn. TK and Kari made up for it though, and luckily we still had most of the S1 cast making an appearance. The storylines weren't really as good, but still a great season in its own way.
Season 3 - Wow. Dark. Rika is hardcore and always will be. Henry is undeniably cool. Takato...was kinda childish at first, but got better. Calumon is the cutest thing ever. The storyline is probably the best out of all seasons, and it flows better than the other two seasons. From the devas to the soverign, it's always moving. And then the D-Reaper. I actually thought that part got a bit creepy at times, what with the devil-Gerri and the real Gerri trying to choke herself to death.
Haven't seen the other seasons :(

The videogame was good too (thanks for reminding me :p ). I always felt proud when my champion (or ultimate) didn't turn out to be a Sukamon.

I forget the names of all The Digimon, but I loved Gomamon (sp?)
I don't think you could ever get him in the game though. :(

That was Joe's Digimon, and I don't recall him being in the game as a playable character. I'm sure I would've remembered "Marching Fishes!"

Holy crap, I'm so glad I happened to see this topic, because I've been a massive Digimon fan for years (also, it has alerted me to the presence of this anime forum which I was unaware of!). I'm really glad to see fellow Digimon fans in the LOST-TV (or MyMedia, if you prefer) community (regardless of whether or not any of you would still consider yourself fans or not).
My favourite season is and will forever be the third, Digimon Tamers. I've always preferred things that are based in the real world, yet have fantastical occurences going on, often out of sight of most of the populace, and this is what Tamers is like for the most part. In addition, many of the characters - both human and Digimon - are my very top-ranking favourites. The feel of the show (especially the first half) is also really cool - I adore how episode 1 really takes its time and lets a real mood be established.
Tamers was handled mainly by Chiaki J. Konaka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiaki_J._Konaka), who was responsible for the likes of Serial Experiments Lain (interesting tidbit; there is a character named Alice in both series, who share a somewhat similar fate). He is also a fan of Evangelion (my fave anime of all time) and the works of H.P. Lovecraft - both of which are evident influences in his own works. I certainly noticed a lot of similarities between EVA and Tamers, which was very cool for me.
Konaka wrote an episode of Digimon Adventure 02 (Digimon season 2) which featured 'Digital Deep Ones', who worshipped Dagomon (whose namesake is Dagon. He resembles Cthulhu). Unfortunately the storyline was forgotten and Dagomon never appeared outside of a silhouette at the end of that episode.
Cloverfield fans.]
Konaka has compiled a lot of interesting information on this (http://www.konaka.com/alice6/tamers/index.html) website (most of which is available in english), which gives an insight into many aspects of the show (I really like the 'about character' pages, very interesting read). I thoroughly recommend taking a look, even if you're not a Digimon fan because it's an interesting look behind the scenes in just creating an anime in general.

Hell yeah. I bought Season 1 - 4 not so long ago and watched them all in just over a month. I don't really care if people say it's childish - I love it and I'm sticking to that.

Thanks for mentioning that. I remember watching it on TV (when Kari went to the Dark Ocean) and seeing the silhouette at the end, wondering what the hell it was and why we never got an answer. It sucks, I would've liked to have seen that, especially since they did go back there later.
As for Tamers, I agree about the EVA similarities. I haven't actually seen an episode of EVA but I've read a lot about it, so I can tell where you're coming from :p I liked most things about the season...just Impmon really started to bother me at times. His character development was AWESOME though

AHHH DIGIMON. How I loved thee. and still do, actually. I was pretty darn obsessed as a kid - had the first two seasons taped on VHS, until Mom got mad at me for hoarding all the VHS tapes. Where'd you buy them on DVD - I SERIOUSLY need them, hehe.
I loved all three seasons, 1-3 that is. They had the fourth one, but it stopped showing on network tv where I was, and I think I didn't like the concept - they HAD no digimon, the kids turned into the digimon. Ruined the whole relationship aspect.
Digimon so trumps Pokemon. Mostly because you actually learned lessons from Digimon, Pokemon was just the same boring repetitive story every week.
I got 'em off eBay. Totally unofficial and it was clear they were recorded off the TV, but with the exception of a few S1 episodes, they're all great quality.
I agree about season 4. I still haven't finished it yet because it's just not the same. I liked it better when they had partners.
And I've had the Digimon vs Pokemon debate many times :D
...*goes to start a poll*

I've only really seen the first season and the 4th season. The 4th season is actually good and you can find it on YouTube if you type in Digimon Frontier and the episode you want to view. I wont say much about it since I wouldn't want to spoil it but its much different then the other series's. Its still Digimon but it has a pleasant twist. If anyone does wish me to talk about it, let me know and I will.

I remember, I'd make my mother tape every episode Saturday morning (not to mention show me the tape she was using and run through the process to make sure she didn't mess it up) before I'd go to swimming lessons.

My brothers were like that with Pokemon. EVERY episode had to be recorded, even though they never rewatched them.
I remember it, Season 1 was the best, the rest were just too... out there.
Season 3 was good too though

I think it's okay to talk about Frontier, genesis. You find out what the twist is in the first episode, after all. I'm glad to hear you liked it - I think it often gets a bad rap - 'too much like Power Rangers' and all this. I thought it kept it fresh, myself.
Do you guys have any particular top favourite Chosen Children (known as Digidestined in the west)/Tamers and/or Digimon? I luuurve Koushirou (Izzy), Takato and Ruki (Rika). It's kinda hard for me choose favourites outside of those, because I like the characters all as a group on the whole. Though I do have some I like over others when it comes to the rest. I have too many fave Digimon to mention XD
To jog your memory, check out the character sections on these pages for all five seasons:
Adventure (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digimon_Adventure) - Adventure 02 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digimon_Adventure_02): - Tamers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digimon_tamers) - Frontier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digimon_frontier) - Savers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digimon_Savers)
Favourite digidestined from Adventure was definitely Izzy. He's so much like me that I was convinced the character was modelled after me! :p I like his rationality, his interest in everything and I love Tentomon.
From Adventure 2, I liked Kari and TK best. I guess the new kids annoyed me a bit, but Cody was cool enough. TK became downright cool and I'm a TKxKari shipper which makes her one of my favourites too. I liked Matt marrying Sora too.
From Tamers, I LOVED Rika. She's so hardcore and cool, yet has a really good character development story when she comes to care about all her friends. Plus Renamon was my favourite Digimon from Tamers too.

Thanks Deus, I actually didn't know that it had gotten a bad rap. I have seen most of the series and I cant see how they could say it was like Power Rangers. They are nothing alike. I think more people should give it a try, its fun because its different. I mean in most of the others, each kid has a digimon companion and uses the digevices in order to evolve them. In Frontier there is no digimon companion (they do have a couple digimon with them to help out), rather they can use they're digidevice to transform THEMSELVES into digimon, with certain elemental abilities. Its very cool.
Oh, as for couple in frontier I would have to go for Kouji and Zoe.
ever seen the differences between the show that aired in the US and the original in Japan? there's quite a few, but they aren't as dramatic as say... onepiece
here's an example of the english on the left and the japan on the right
http://www.duckfeather.net/digimon/tamers/tamers36-5.jpg
most of the cuts are the actual impacts of hits and stuff like that, but there's a lot of stupid dialogue changes too.
