Well now, let's be fair, they clearly died right in front of us, and we saw them get buried in the ground.

With Mikhail, a grenade detonates underwater. It's clearly near him, but it's hard to tell HOW near. If he pushed off the side of the station, he could have gotten a fair bit of distance there before it detonated, and ballistics underwater tend to be a lot more contained. I doubt he could have survived completely uninjured, but I do think it's certainly possible he could have lived through the experience.

See, therein lies the problem. If he is truly dead, I seriously doubt anyone is going to go retrieve the body for burial. There's too much other stuff going on on the island for the Others to be worried about that right now. Ditto Tom, Ryan, and the rest of the Others Beach Infililtration/Kidnap Team.

I was never one of Charlie's fans, but I would be rather upset if Mikhail survived when Charlie died. :)

If TPTB continue the motif of Desmond as Odysseus, then Mikhail should be back, and Desmond will eventually put out his remaining eye.

I agree that Mikhail is a very interesting character. However, don't you worry about him becoming a running joke (ala the Wonder Twins) on the show if he continually returns from the "dead"?

Perhaps he's a descendant of Rasputin. That would certainly explain a lot, yes? ;)
