I think he's too interesting a character to not have one.

YES I would love to see him in flashback to find out more about him, I just don't see it happening

I'd love to see Mikhail get a flashback! The story of how he got recruited, whether he was DHARMA originally or not, what made him the way that he is.

I agree that Mikhail is probably supposed to be dead for real this time, BUT at the same time I think there's enough ambiguity that TPTB could bring the character back if they really wanted to/changed their minds/realized how popular he is.

Wouldn't it be cool if Patchy and Kelvin had an episode all to themselves? The story of the DHARMA-suited guys who are supposed to be dead but somehow aren't.

Kelvin's another mystery that really needs solving. He supposedly came to the island only a couple of years before Mikhail, several years after The Purge. And yet Kelvin really seems to regard himself as DHARMA.

You know, if they want to keep Mikhail dead but still do a patch-back it is as easy as someone re-discovering the glass eye. Each time they transition to his flashback, just close up on the eye and then go right to Patchy's past.

Weeell...

Yes. TPTB stated in (I think) 2 interviews, as well as in the special features for the blu-ray Season 3 DVD set, that Mikhail Bakunin is in fact dead. But I think there's enough ambiguity there that TPTB could change their minds if they wanted to.
