Episode Description:

Sayid and Desmond hit a bit of turbulence on the way to the freighter, which causes Desmond to experience some unexpected side effects.

Don't think he will now. Penny is his constant, which is what will save him. The rat had no constant, nor did the guy on the freighter, so their brains gave out.

I would have to say, I used to think the biggest twist was Locke being in the wheelchair.

Then, it was, well... who cares?

This HAS to be the very best episode of the entire 4 seasons.

It is going to have us spinning for at LEAST the next week...

i'm guessing desmond can't time travel anymore, no more flashes. but he doesn't remember anything from that point of getting her phone # b/c that's the last memory he has until he's on the boat with sayid.

i'm guessing faraday did a time travel experiment on himself thus resulting in his memory problems. also explains why he didn't know why he was crying when he saw the news of the 815 discovery on the news.

penny as been looking for the island for 3 years.

and the boat has been there since october.

Yes. For me, this was actually probably one of the most satisfying moments on this show so far.

I don't think he recognized Sayid either. His saying Sayid's name was as a way of saying you are my friend, even though I don't know who the hell you are. I don't think he got his memory back either. He still doesn't know anything about the island or how he got there. I think he only remembers leaving Penny's house and he smiled because I think he knew Penny still loved him and would be there when he called 8 years later.

Also, did Minkowski's line about "You can't change the future" strike a chord with anyone else? Perhaps, can we guess that one CAN change the past?

One other thought that occurred to me - not sure why or how or whether it makes sense, but... 6 degrees of separation. Penny is Des' "constant," Des is Faraday's "constant," ... who is Faraday a constant for?

It just occured to me that everything -- EVERYTHING -- that happened in this episode was foreshadowed so much in past seasons.

The sickness was hinted at in Season One, and we learned in Season Two it had to do with the hatch, and now we know it has to do with exposure to the electromagnetic energy there.

The Black Rock was shown in Season One, and now Charles Widmore has the diary -- and Widmore himself likely used that diary to finance the expedition to find the Black Rock -- which in turn "found" the "ruins" of the "fake" Oceanic 815.

SO MANY amazing twists in this episode.
