I was wondering if there were any other high school sports coaches around and what they coach?
I coach hockey. Technically co-ed hockey, but there is only one girl on the team - the goalie.

I coach a modified (7,8,9th grades) Boys soccer team. I primarily run a 4-3-3 scheme and like to play the ball in the air. Defensively, I prefer to be aggressive and offside trap as often as possible. The thing about that age group is that any breakdown in communication or execution in the offside trap, it usually results in a goal. I hate passing the ball around midfield! Who cares how many passes you can make while moving backwards, I want to score and the only way to do that is by attacking and attacking with speed and numbers. Again, that makes your team vulnerable to counter-attacks (which happened a lot) but thems the breaks.
I still have a lot to learn as a coach but I love the game and I love the kids. Even though they frustrate the hell out of me sometimes, they sure as hell make me smile (and shake my head all too often).
I coach baseball - Legion ball to be exact - A cub 14-15 year old boys

Don't know if either of you find this at all with your teams..but I find that one of the biggest problems with my guys is that they tend to react rather than be proactive about passing and goals. Instead of setting up a good play as a team they skate as far into the other teams zone as they can and only pass the puck when they are about to get checked...which usually results in the losing the puck.
I've tried to explain it to them, but alot of them are used to being "star players" on their AAA teams that they don't know how to cooperate.
Any suggestions?
