Here is the latest casting update for Season 3 of Heroes from Ausiello at TV Guide.
He confirms that there are currently two new recurring roles that NBC is trying to cast for the Season 3 premiere.
I am not sure how many more new characters Heroes can handle, but with this season titled as Villains, I am assuming we will be getting several new characters for the Heroes crew to deal with.
Well here are the details:
Question: Any more Heroes scoop? — Alive
Ausiello: Two new recurring roles are being cast, both of which are slated to debut in the Season 3 premiere. "Joy" is in her early twenties and described as "quick on her feet — and adept at getting herself into and out of trouble." Senator Robert Malden, meanwhile, is in his fifties and a political straight shooter.

Looks like we may have gotten an early intro to "Joy" if she ends up looking anything like this here (from the Online Comic titled "Walls"):

Season 3 Casting Update - More Details on Joy
Here are some more details for a new character by the name of Joy that will appear in season 3 of Heroes.
According to Kristin she will have the ability of super speed and will meet Hiro in a museum.
Here are the details:
Sasha in Charleston, Ill.: I'm in desperate need of some Heroes scoop. The wait until new episodes is killing me!
Look for a new villain named Joy. Her power is superspeed—she's lightning-fast, like the Flash. Hiro meets her in a museum. He asks her if she has powers and if she is trying to steal some art. She convinces him she's on the up-and-up...and then makes off with a bunch of paintings. She's described as a nymph-like character with the speed of a cheetah on, er, speed.

There are some casting rumors going around now that Christian Camargo (of "Dexter" fame) will be joining the cast of HEROES as "Thompson Jr." (who is being featured now in the new series of online comics).
I don't have any kind of credible source, so for now, this is only a rumor - though from what I'm reading around, Camargo had been cast as early as Thanksgiving.
Rumor is he (Thompson Jr.) was going to be who shot Nathan in the S2 finale. But who knows now.....

TV Guide (http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Ausiello-Scoop-Bruce/800039151) reports that veteran actor Bruce Boxleitner ("Babylon 5," "Scarecrow and Mrs. King," "How the West Was Won") has landed a top-secret recurring role in NBC's "Heroes."
The magazine says the role was originally going to be modeled after Sen. John McCain. The character has since been reconceived and is expected to be sharing scenes with a female series regular.
They add that, although the show is introducing some new faces next season, the primary focus will remain "on the core characters from the pilot."

Brea Grant speeds her way to Heroes

http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.tvsquad.com/media/2008/05/breagrant1.gifActress Brea Grant (http://www.breagrant.com/) just landed a pretty cool role on the hit NBC series Heroes (http://www.tvsquad.com/category/heroes/). According to TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, the young actress was cast as Joy (http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Ausiello-Scoop-Fnls/800038878?), a woman in her early twenties with the power of superspeed.
This recurring character is said to be introduced in a scene set at a museum. Hiro meets the woman at the museum and asks her if she has powers and is using them to steal art. As expected, Joy will lie to our beloved hero Hiro and leave the scene with a few paintings. Is she part of the villains or is she one of the good guys and somehow lost her way? Only time will tell!
Before landing this role on Heroes, the actress guest starred in three episodes (http://www.tvsquad.com/2008/01/26/friday-night-lights-humble-pie/) of NBC's Friday Night Lights (http://www.tvsquad.com/category/friday-night-lights/) as Jean Binnel, Landry's rebound girl. She also guest starred in a recent episode of Cold Case. Grant also appeared in a few movies since she officially started her acting career last year.

Bruce Boxleitner (http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/bruce-boxleitner/142930), who played Scarecrow to Sabrina Duncan (http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/kate-jackson/159874)'s Mrs. King in the mid-80s, has snagged a top-secret recurring role that was originally going to be modeled after Sen. John McCain. The character has since been reconceived, and now all I know for sure is that he'll be sharing scenes with a female series regular.
By the way, although it may seem like Heroes is getting ready to force-feed us another batch of newbies (http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Ausiello-Scoop-Fnls/800038878), an NBC insider insists that's definitely not the case. Judging from a recent AP interview with Brea Grant, it appears the character "Joy" had a name change to "Daphne":
The Associated Press (http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080509/D90I3U880.html) has published an interview with Brea Grant talking about her new "Heroes" character, The Speedster. Here are a few clips that give more details on the role:
"I'm stealing a secret that's been kept in Hiro's family for a long time that he's just now found," Brea Grant told The Associated Press during a break in filming on location in a high-rise building in downtown Los Angeles. "He stops time right as I grab it, but in that second it took him to grab it, I almost make it out of the office."
Grant doesn't know much about her mysterious new character. Daphne's superpower allows her to operate at three speeds and leave a supersonic wake in her path when Hiro stops time. Grant's not sure where Daphne is from, but she does know the Speedster - that's what she calls herself - has been on her own for a long time.

http://community.tvguide.com/servlet/ImgServlet?mx=220&attachImage=true&contentType=image%2Fjpeg&attachment=800017722&crop=false Francis Capra by Jean-Paul Aussenard/WireImage.com
Now here's a Heroes (http://www.tvguide.com/tvshows/heroes/281246)newcomer I can get behind — if only because it could offer Veronica Mars (http://www.tvguide.com/tvshows/veronica-mars/100565) fans a very special reunion. Francis Capra (http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/francis-capra/150434), aka the toughie 'Ron (and Mars viewers) loved to hate, is joining the NBC hit this fall in the recurring role of Jesse.
Who or what is Jesse? Not much (including his power) is being revealed, of course, but thus far I've found out two things: One, TV's former Weevil is playing evil, and two, his villainous storyline will find him crossing paths with Peter Petrelli.
Capra's arrival of course promises to reunite him with Veronica herself, Kristen Bell (http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/kristen-bell/160946), who is rumored (though not yet confirmed, drat!) to be reprising her own Heroes role this season.

William Katt Joins the Cast for Season 3
One of the original TV superheros, during a recent interview WIlliam Katt, who played the Greatest American Heroes, confirmed that he has filmed several scenes with Ali Larter (Niki). Katt says he plays a reporter that will go after Niki.
Here is the part of the article with the Heroes information:
http://bp0.blogger.com/_n3eH1jI8AZ8/SFeGUFXPcaI/AAAAAAAAFPQ/CRSfLkDJaV4/s320/william-katt-2-ff.jpg (http://bp0.blogger.com/_n3eH1jI8AZ8/SFeGUFXPcaI/AAAAAAAAFPQ/CRSfLkDJaV4/s1600-h/william-katt-2-ff.jpg)William Katt, who played the lead role in the '80s television show Greatest American Hero, is the latest classic sci-fi TV actor to make an appearance on the NBC show Heroes.
"I just filmed it last week," Katt says of his appearance on Heroes. "I play a really, really wonderful, seedy, smarmy-mouthed reporter that goes after Ali Larter. It was a lot of fun."
Although Larter's character, Niki Sanders, was apparently trapped in a house that exploded at the end of last season, not only is she back on the set, but Katt said he worked almost exclusively with her. "She hogged me. She wanted me all to herself," he jokes.
The actor, whose role as Ralph Hinkley on Greatest American Hero lasted three years, joins other stars of cult sci-fi classics who have appeared on Heroes, including Joanna Cassidy from Blade Runner and Star Trek actors George Takei and Nichelle Nichols.
A fan of Heroes since he first saw the pilot, Katt said he got the job because of a friendship with director Greg Beeman. "He's a wonderful director. He's been on the show for awhile after being up in Canada doing Smallville. Now he directs on Heroes quite a bit," Katt says. "I did a show with him a number of years ago when we worked together on a two-hour movie of the week for NBC called Problem Child 3."
Katt compares the comedic Greatest American Hero to the dramatic Heroes. "It's more Hitchcockian. It's a more dark and seedy look at the world of superheroes. It's offering to television viewers what some of the better comic books do," Katt says. "Tim Kring is just an extraordinary writer. And I think there's no end to his creativity. He's kind of mad, in an insane way. And that always makes it interesting. There are a lot of twists yet to come."
A guest star on recent episodes of House M.D. and JAG, Katt says his Heroes character was a "really fun role" for him to play, although the character doesn't have powers. "He has the power of persuasion. That's what he has," he said, then added with a laugh," and no red suit.

Season 3 - David Anders Returns
Here is a little tidbit from Matt Mitovich from TV Guide confirming something we already knew, David Anders will appear again in Season 3. Anders who plays Adam Munroe was last seen buried alive by Hiro, but it seems that based on previous spoilers, he will be found by a "villain" that will help him out of the coffin.

Finally, some good Heroes news: The embattled NBC drama has snapped up an Everwood alum! Sources confirm to me exclusively that Justin Baldoni, who played Emily VanCamp's ripped med student beau on the late, great WB classic, is joining the cast as Alex, a Southern California surfer dude who works at a comic book store. Baldoni will appear in a minimum of two episodes. It's unclear what connection, if any, Baldoni's Andy will have to the comic book geeks played by Seth Green and Breckin Meyer (http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2008/10/dan-byrd-joins.html). But I think it's safe to say comic books play a key role in the upcoming "Fugitives" arc.

Wil, like most of us, is also on Twitter (http://twitter.com/). If you follow Wil and Greg Grunberg, you’ve seen their exchange this weekend… Greg added Wil to his list of people to follow and mentioned that he was a fan and should be on Heroes…
@WILW (http://twitter.com/wilw) it’s @greggrunberg (http://twitter.com/greggrunberg) from Heroes. Happy to be twittering you. I’m a fan. @Heroes (http://twitter.com/Heroes) @StarTrek (http://twitter.com/StarTrek)about 11 hours ago from web in reply to wilw
Thinking how cool it would be for @WILW (http://twitter.com/wilw) to have a cameo on Heroes. Will tell Tim and the writers tomorrow. Think he’d do it? about 11 hours ago from web

@WILW (http://twitter.com/wilw) I’m sure Tim would LOVE to have you. I will talk to him tomorrow and see what he thinks. about 11 hours ago from web in reply to wilw
@WILW (http://twitter.com/wilw) My twitter peeps are going nuts over the idea of having wilw on Heroes. Must make that happen. about 11 hours ago from web in reply to wilw
To which Wil replied:
So this is unexpected: @greggrunberg (http://twitter.com/greggrunberg) says he likes my work, and wants to get me on Heroes. Says he’ll talk to Tim Kring about it today. O_o about 1 hour ago from TwitterFox
Also since Wil is quite popular on Twitter, the meer link to@greggrunberg (http://twitter.com/greggrunberg) led thousands of fans to Greg’s profile.
So.. who else is on Twitter?
Greg Grunberg (http://twitter.com/greggrunberg) [Matt Parkman]
Brea Grant (http://twitter.com/breagrant) [Daphne Millbrook]
David H. Lawrence XVII (http://twitter.com/dhlawrencexvii) [Eric Doyle]
And of course, here’s mine (http://twitter.com/boisvertfj), and don’t forget the HeroesARG (http://twitter.com/HeroesARG) profile… which is back up and running, btw. Thanks for the heads up.
There are also a bunch of characters from Heroes, but none of them are official. They’re all fan created. Some are quite entertaining.
So, here’s to hoping that Wil can get on. Of course.. will he have a power? Which one?

To restore the super to Heroes, the show is going -- but of course -- to Smallville!
Sources confirm to me exclusively that the struggling NBC drama has tapped John Glover, a.k.a. Lex Luthor's dad, Lionel, to play Sylar's father.
"When Sylar meets his father, he's going to see a path ahead of him that he doesn't want to take," reveals a Heroes insider. "He has a lot more in common with his father than he realized."
The Tony award winner, who recently booked an arc (http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2008/10/john-glover-cas.html) on Brothers & Sisters as a love interest for Ron Rifkin's Saul, will turn up towards the end of Heroes' forthcoming "Fugitives" chapter.
Do you see the family resemblance?
I think the idea that was posed in the general forum that Papa Gray (O.o I really hope he's the Papa Gray) was a killer, too was spot on! :D
