Claire should have died! If a rocket launcher hits your house, you should die!

How did she live? Is the Island protecting her? Does she have a purpose besides making me swoon and breast-feeding Aaron? (Two of my favourite things about her)

I'll go throw in my own little theroy. The island needs Claire, this was a moment that should have really killed Claire, and personally the closest I think they will get to killing her. Am I excited? No. Because I'm still scared.

:D

But needless to say, I'm interested in that little detail.

Possible explanations

Claire's wig protected her. Protecting her from rubble.

Charlie protected her. (She thought Sawyer was Charlie) Remember he said "I won't leave you Claire" in a previous episode. Somehow I think Charlie still has an influence on Claire's life.

The Island saved her life. Theroys are out that Jacob = Christian. If Jacob is in control of the Island, he may want to protect Claire.

Ya know, as soon as her house exploded, I yelled out loud "HOLY <snip>, IAN IS GOING TO BE PISSED!!!" Then my wife looked at me and said "Who the hell is IAN???"...

akward silence...

But seriously, I was a bit dissapointed by that whole scene, not even so much about her survivng it, but how the actual scructure of the house looked. There's no way the outside siding and sheething and the inside sheetrock plus all the insulation are going to be instantly incenerated, but the framing members totally intact.

Total BS.

I had the same reaction the first time I watched it, but on the second viewing, it seemed that perhaps she was out behind the house near the clotheslines, maybe hanging laundry out to dry, when the blast hit. There was what appeared to be a tangle of clothesline and clothes strewn all around her. So, maybe she was outside the house when the blast hit and was knocked to the ground and/or hit by debris. I agree, though, that if she was supposed to be inside the house at the time, her survival seems improbable.

Probably, there was a promo picture of her outside without a cut on her head. I guess the cut that scene out which was meant to be at the beginning.

For a moment there I thought that was how they were going to explain how Kate got Aaron, with Claire getting killed in the rocket attack. There's no way to tell what kind of round they were using but a LAW or RPG should have incinerated that house. But hey, it's not reality, it's television.

I'm glad Claire survived.

Claire's wig protected her. Protecting her from rubble. Yeah, what's up with the wig?

Charlie protected her. (She thought Sawyer was Charlie) Remember he said "I won't leave you Claire" in a previous episode. Somehow I think Charlie still has an influence on Claire's life.

When Sawyer found her in the rubble, she did call Charlie's name.

I have to agree with a previous poster. Charlie is still somehow connected with Claire. I don't know how, but he is.

Yeah, I am a realist. If Claire dies, I won't be one of these people saying she's still alive. As far as I know it's a miracle she didn't die. (And even more of a miracle that Sawyer didn't get hit by one of those bullets)

He appeared to Hurley. "I am dead, but I'm also here" That proved he could be in a physical form.

That was the only bit of this episode I didn't like, there is no way she could survive and be walking around hrs later...unless the Island protected her!

If Claire lived through all that; I'd say she's being protected by some unseen force. I heard her say, "Charlie," too. But I'm not suggesting he is said force. I'm leaning toward; she is a Shephard and Shephards don't die.:)

I'm glad you didn't have to cry.. Don't worry so much about Claire; you should be worried about Kate running with Aaron. He'll be in Kate's baby carrier; bouncing around and getting whiplash because she thinks someone's going to take Aaron away from her.

I was genuinely disappointed when she woke up after the explosion. I just don't like the character at all, sorry.

Once they give her something to do she'll make a comeback.

Hopefully that's soon.

That's probably it. I really can't remember the last time she did anything other than going to the medical station with Kate and Rousseau, and I really didn't like that episode.

Still, it could be worse. She could be Kate.

She says "Charlie?" to Sawyer when he lifts up the tarp and wakes her up. So it's obvious that Charlie/"the Island" saved her. Not a mark on her and she didn't even loose her hearing. Just a little disoriented, that's all folks!

The island even kept Sawyer from getting shot while on his way to save Claire. There's no way he could have avoided all those bullets. These guys were shooting skeet from at least 75 yards away, they could have easily hit Sawyer.

I agree, but it looks cooler when the picket fence is exploding behind him as he runs.

It is a TV show. DO you think they actually shot an RPG at the house?! Wake up!

My new crazy idea that popped up last night...............

Jacob had two children Claire and Jack ....he brought them both back to the island..........he will let one go, but not the other.........someone has to choose which one goes and which one stays................and that is why Jack can't face Aaron.

As far as explosions go everyone would agree that one would kill you, I know it's a tv show. But I think it was there for a reason. Not just a damsel in distress moment.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I think Claire and Aaron are critical characters to the overall plot, even though it may not seem that way right now. Claire was told in the begining that she HAS to raise Aaron herself. I think Aaron is somehow connected to Jacob. And therefore, neither of them will die for a while; they are protected by Jacob. Which could be another reason the others wanted to take Aaron from her in season 1.

I too was disappointed with that part. She should have died. Or at least been all banged up and not with a small cut on her forehead. Gimme a break. Also, someone made a comment that perhaps she was out back hanging clothes. Well, they were shooting at Sawyer for at least 3-5 minutes and during that time she was still hanging clothes and couldn't hear all the noise? No I don't think so. Any person in there right mind would run...maybe indoors. :aaa:There's more then likely a back door, so she had time to go inside. To me she was inside and she should be died. I don't know...

Her character never did anything for me. She's done nothing but give birth in the jungle. Sorry to Claire fans.

I was struck by her miraculous recovery more than just her survival from the blast. She had blood on her head and from Sawyer's reaction when he found her, he thought she was in pretty bad shape. Near the end of the show she's asked how she's doing and she says "fine" as if she skinned her knee.
- She probably saw Charlie in some fashion.
- Claire, Locke, Patchy and others all suffered major injuries and experienced recovery times inhumanly fast. Charlie "died" but I'm still of the belief that he'll come back, same with Patchy.

I suppose Rousseau could still be alive as well.
